A Day in the Life

This position is remote to enhance our competitive edge and expand our cross-functional collaboration efforts. This role will require 20% of travel to enhance collaboration and ensure successful completion of projects.

The Director, Commercial Process & Digital Transformation will support the US Surgical business and is responsible for defining, optimizing, and enabling commercial processes through technology. This leader serves as the Business Product Owner for core commercial platforms, including Salesforce.com and AI-enabled capabilities, while partnering closely with Sales, Marketing, IT, Data & Analytics, Finance and C&P functions to identify opportunities for simplification, automation, and digital transformation.

The role is accountable for defining future-state commercial processes, translating business needs into scalable technology solutions, establishing governance frameworks, managing business priorities, and ensuring successful adoption across the commercial organization. Success in this role requires balancing strategic vision with operational execution, ensuring technology investments drive measurable improvements in productivity, customer experience, commercial effectiveness, and business performance.

Key Responsibilities

Commercial Process Digitalization
  • Challenge existing processes and drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Identify opportunities to simplify, standardize, automate, and modernize workflows.
  • Define future-state operating models that leverage automation, digital tools, and AI capabilities.
  • Ensure business processes are scalable, sustainable, and aligned across Surgical businesses, regions and functions where appropriate


Business Product Ownership
  • Serve as Business Product Owner for Salesforce.com and designated AI-enabled platforms
  • Define the vision, roadmap, priorities, and success measures and ensure solutions are aligned to commercial strategy.
  • Manage and prioritize business requirements, enhancement requests, and use cases.
  • Establish intake and evaluation processes to ensure business needs are appropriately captured and prioritized.
  • Act as primary liaison between commercial stakeholders and technology delivery teams.


Commercial Technology Strategy
  • Develop and maintain a commercial technology roadmap aligned with organizational priorities and related functions (i.e C&P technology roadmap)
  • Drive integration and alignment across CRM, analytics, automation, AI, and related commercial technologies.
  • Partner with technology teams to ensure solutions meet business requirements.
  • Monitor industry trends and emerging technologies to identify innovation opportunities.


Governance & Portfolio Management
  • Establish governance processes for commercial technology investments and enhancement requests.
  • Create intake, prioritization, and decision-making frameworks to ensure transparency and alignment.
  • Lead prioritization of initiatives across competing business demands.
  • Ensure alignment between regional, global, and enterprise priorities.
  • Facilitate alignment across stakeholders and resolve competing business priorities.
  • Develop and maintain transparent reporting on project status, roadmap, risks, and value realization


Change Management and Adoption
  • Drive adoption of new technologies and business processes.
  • Develop communication, training, and stakeholder engagement strategies.
  • Define and track adoption, utilization, and business outcome metrics.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement and digital innovation.


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree with at least 10+ years, or advanced degree with at least 8+ years of experience in Commercial Digital Transformation, SFDC Product Management, or related functions
  • 7+ years of people, program or project management experience
  • Experience leading Salesforce.com (or other CRM) platform strategy and governance.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience serving as a Salesforce.com Business Product Owner and leading commercial technology initiatives (AI, automation, digital transformation initiatives)
  • Experience leading cross-functional projects in complex matrix organizations.
  • Demonstrated success driving business process transformation through technology solutions
  • Strong executive communication, stakeholder management, and influencing skills.
  • Strong understanding of commercial processes, forecasting, pipeline management, and customer engagement workflows
  • Lean certification
  • Salesforce administrator certification or higher
  • Medical device, healthcare, life sciences, or other highly regulated industry experience.
  • Agile product management experience.
  • MBA or advanced degree.
  • Bachelor's degree in business, engineering, information systems, or related discipline.

For Baccalaureate degrees earned outside of the United States, a degree that satisfies the requirements of 8 C.F.R. A7 214.2(h)(4)(iii)(A) is required.

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$176,800.00 - $265,200.00

This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).

This position is eligible for an annual long-term incentive plan.

The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).

The following benefits and additional compensation are available to those regular employees who work 20+ hours per week: Health, Dental and vision insurance, Health Savings Account, Healthcare Flexible Spending Account, Life insurance, Long-term disability leave, Dependent daycare spending account, Tuition assistance/reimbursement, and Simple Steps (global well-being program).
