Full Job Description
This role is fully remote and can be based anywhere in the United States.

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced and strategic Director, Clinical Design & Implementation to lead our team of Clinical Solution Analysts (CSAs). This is a leadership role accountable for the people, performance, and output of the team - owning resourcing, line management, and career development - while also acting as the senior product subject matter expert who shapes how our solutions are designed, sold, and delivered.

You will operate at the intersection of product, sales, and customer delivery. Working closely with the Product team, you will surface gaps identified across studies, translate delivery and customer insight into product feedback, and help prioritize enhancements that keep our platform ahead of customer need. Working closely with Sales, you will support feasibility assessments for prospective studies, advising on what is and isn't achievable within the platform and helping shape solutioning for new business.

While this is a remote position, the role is customer-facing by design. You will be expected to travel on-site with customers as needed - particularly during new portfolio and new customer setup - building the relationships and trust that underpin successful delivery.

Above all, this role is expected to be, and to build, deep product expertise: you will become a recognized subject matter expert on our product and will lead the team that serves as the product SMEs within delivery.

Responsibilities
  • Team Leadership & Line Management: Own the day-to-day management of the Clinical Solution Analyst team, including resourcing, workload prioritization, performance management, coaching, and career development. Build a high-performing, collaborative team culture focused on quality and continuous improvement.
  • Product Subject Matter Expertise & SME Leadership: Develop and maintain deep, current expertise on the product, and lead the team that serves as the product subject matter experts within delivery. Set the standard for product knowledge across the team and ensure it is maintained as the platform evolves.
  • Product Collaboration: Partner closely with the Product team to identify and communicate gaps observed across studies and customer engagements. Share delivery and study-level insights that inform the product roadmap, and act as the voice of delivery in prioritization discussions on features and enhancements.
  • Sales & Feasibility Partnership: Partner with the Sales/Commercial team to support feasibility assessments for new and prospective studies. Provide clear, timely guidance on what is and is not feasible within the product to support accurate scoping, proposals, and customer commitments.
  • Customer-Facing Engagement: Act as a senior customer-facing representative of delivery, particularly during new customer and new portfolio setup. Travel on-site with customers as required to support relationship-building, discovery, and successful onboarding, notwithstanding the remote nature of the role.
  • Resource Allocation & Prioritization: Determine team priorities in alignment with portfolio and business needs, and allocate resources to meet delivery commitments and quality standards across a growing book of work.
  • Process & Best Practice: Identify opportunities to improve study design and configuration processes, and drive adoption of best practices across the team.
  • Risk Management: Proactively identify risks across the team's portfolio of studies and put mitigation plans in place to protect delivery outcomes.
  • Metrics & Reporting: Establish and maintain reporting on team performance, delivery progress, and quality, and use it to inform decisions on resourcing and prioritization.
  • Cross-Functional Leadership: Represent the CSA function in discussions with Delivery leadership, Product, and Commercial, and act as a key partner in shaping strategy across those functions.

Qualifications

Required (Must-Have)
  • eCOA Experience: Must have hands-on experience working on eCOA studies, with a solid understanding of eCOA study design, build, and delivery. Must have prior experience working at another eCOA vendor, with deep, practical understanding of table-stakes eCOA clinical trial product functionality and how it's expected to perform against industry norms.
  • Therapeutic Area & Trial Design Expertise: Must have deep familiarity with clinical trial designs across diverse therapeutic areas including how design differences translate into study setup and configuration needs.
  • Protocol-to-Requirements Translation: Must have direct, proven experience reading clinical trial protocols and translating them into clear, actionable system/study requirements.
  • Team Mentorship: Must be able to hire and develop team members who can perform this same protocol-to-requirements-and-configuration translation independently, embedding this skill as a core team capability.
  • Independent Problem-Solving: Must be able to operate independently amid ambiguity and competing priorities, driving issues to resolution without needing significant direction, and staying effective and level-headed when the path forward isn't clear-cut.
  • Proven experience leading and managing a team of clinical trial design, business analysis, and/or implementation specialists, with a strong track record of people leadership and development.
  • Extensive hands-on background in clinical study design, requirements gathering, and configuration, with the credibility to operate as a product subject matter expert.
  • Experience partnering with Sales/Commercial teams on solution feasibility, scoping, or pre-sales support.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence across functions and with customers.

Additional Qualifications
  • Experience partnering with Product teams to influence roadmap and feature prioritization based on delivery and customer insight.
  • Comfortable operating in a remote-first role with regular travel for on-site customer engagement, including new customer and portfolio setup.
  • Strong understanding of end-to-end delivery processes for clinical trials and digital health platforms.
  • Deep understanding of the competitive landscape and industry standards for clinical trial technology.
  • Bachelor's degree in Life Sciences, Health Informatics, or a related field.
