Director, Urgent Care & Occupational Health OperationsThe Director of Urgent Care and Occupational Health Operations is responsible for the strategic oversight, operational performance, and continued growth of Deaconess Clinic's Urgent Care, Express Care, and Occupational Health service lines. This leader will ensure exceptional patient access, quality, customer service, financial performance, and regulatory compliance across all locations. The position partners closely with physician and advanced practice provider leadership to drive provider productivity, staffing optimization, patient experience initiatives, and expansion opportunities. The Director will also collaborate with employer partners, hospital leadership, and support departments to strengthen community relationships and deliver high-quality occupational medicine services that meet the needs of regional employers while advancing the mission and goals of Deaconess Clinic.
Essential FunctionsStrategic & Operational Leadership- Partners with the VP-COO to establish goals and objectives aligned with Deaconess Health System's strategic priorities.
- Directs and evaluates operations for assigned clinical practices and promotes a culture of continuous improvement.
- Works with Practice Managers, Clinic Managers, physicians, and staff to improve workflows, productivity, patient satisfaction, and quality of care.
- Evaluates opportunities for new services, procedures, and other practice initiatives and assists with developing business plans.
- Monitors performance against key benchmarks and implements adjustments when goals are not being met.
- Supports EPIC optimization and other technology initiatives related to clinic operations.
- Assists with practice acquisitions, facility expansions, and new building projects.
Leadership & Compliance- Coaches and supports Practice Managers and Clinic Managers in improving practice performance and employee and physician satisfaction.
- Serves as a leader and change agent for new initiatives across the organization.
- Ensures compliance with applicable federal and state regulations, including OSHA, CLIA, and CMS requirements.
- Oversees compliance and record audit programs for assigned practices.
- Promotes Deaconess customer service standards and organizational policies.
- Represents Deaconess Clinic on system teams and committees as assigned.
- Supervises Practice Managers and/or Clinic Managers for assigned locations.
People & Financial Management- Oversees hiring, orientation, training, development, counseling, and termination of employees as appropriate.
- Monitors staffing, payroll, overtime, and departmental productivity.
- Works with Practice Managers and Clinic Managers to develop annual budgets.
- Monitors operating and capital budgets and reviews monthly financial performance.
- Analyzes budget variances and identifies opportunities for expense control and revenue enhancement.
- Reports financial findings and recommended action plans to the VP-COO.
Provider & Administrative Support- Works with physicians and the Medical Director(s) to support practice goals and physician engagement.
- Partners with Deaconess Recruiting to support credentialing and orientation for newly hired physicians, nurse practitioners, and advanced practice providers.
- Coordinates practice needs with Human Resources, Finance, Billing & Collections, Lab, Imaging, Information Technology, and other support departments.
- Leads regularly scheduled Deaconess Clinic Leadership meetings and participates in administrative meetings.
Education- Bachelor's degree in Business, Healthcare, or a related field required.
- Master's degree in Healthcare or a related field preferred.
Experience- Significant recent leadership and supervisory experience in an ambulatory healthcare setting required.
- Demonstrated success in ambulatory practice management, preferably within a multi-specialty group practice.
- Proven experience with operational leadership, performance improvement, financial management, and physician collaboration preferred.
