Diagnostic Imaging Alberta (DIA), a provincial program within Acute Care Alberta is now seeking a strategic, influential, systems thinker for the role of Director, Centre of Expertise (Director, CoE).The Director, Diagnostic Imaging Centre of Expertise (CoE) is a senior provincial leadership role within DIA. As Director, you will provide strategic leadership, operational oversight, and subject-matter expertise. You will provide strategic and operational leadership, establishing provincial frameworks, standards, and best practices across the core enabling functions that support safe, high-quality, and sustainable diagnostic imaging services across Alberta. You will navigate complex, province-wide challenges, balance clinical, technical, financial, and workforce considerations, and help set the direction for diagnostic imaging delivery in Alberta. As this position is provincial in scope, this position's location is negotiable within Alberta.
Description:

The Director, Diagnostic Imaging Centre of Expertise (CoE) provides strategic leadership, operational oversight, and subject-matter expertise to ensure safe, high-quality, and sustainable diagnostic imaging services across Alberta. Reporting to the Senior Lead, the Director oversees provincial centres of expertise in quality oversight, imaging systems and technology, workforce strategy, and advanced advisory and analytical functions. The role enables Diagnostic Imaging Alberta (DIA) to establish provincial frameworks and standards, advance best practices, manage risk, support innovation, and strengthen system capability across public and contracted providers.The Director ensures CoE functions are responsive, scalable, and aligned with DIA and ACA priorities, building strong relationships with internal and external partners to integrate clinical, technical, workforce, and analytical perspectives into actionable system-level solutions. The role provides direct leadership to approximately 40 staff, including clinical and technical experts, senior consultants, business analysts, and professional support teams. Working in a matrixed environment, the Director drives prioritization and integration to meet provincial needs. The position leads the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of provincial Diagnostic Imaging Quality Management Systems. The Director also oversees an annual budget of $5-10 million, ensuring prudent management of fiscal and human resources, alignment with DIA priorities, and strong performance outcomes.

Required Qualifications:
Master's degree in Health Administration, Public Health, Business Administration, Analytics, Health Economics, or a healthcare or related field (or equivalent combinations of education & experience). Professional designation or advanced training in diagnostic imaging or clinical practices, health quality or patient safety, digital health, informatics, or technology governance, and leadership or change management certifications would be considered an asset. At least seven (7) years of progressive senior leadership experience in healthcare operations, quality, systems, technology, or workforce planning within a complex environment.A combination of qualifications and experience may be considered.

Additional Required Qualifications:
Demonstrated success leading large, multidisciplinary teams, including professionals, clinicians, and technical experts.Proven ability to lead through influence in matrixed organizations with shared resources.Experience developing and operationalizing centres of expertise or enterprise-level enabling functions.Strong financial acumen, including managing multi-million-dollar budgets and vendor contracts.Exceptional communication, relationship management, and strategic problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in diagnostic imaging, medical imaging, surgical, or acute care environments.Experience leading enterprise clinical systems or digital transformation initiatives.Experience working with government, health authorities, and contracted service providers.
