Job Description

Job Summary:

Lead the Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL) and provide strategic leadership for faculty and staff professional development aligned with the University of Nebraska at Kearney's mission, strategic priorities, and commitment to student success. The Director advances innovative, evidence-based teaching and learning practices; cultivates a campus culture of continuous learning, collaboration, and professional growth; and leads timely, responsive initiatives that strengthen student accessibility, engagement, retention, and degree completion. The Director also establishes processes for assessing the effectiveness and impact of CTL programs and services, using evidence and institutional data to inform priorities, guide decision-making, and drive continuous improvement.

Required Qualifications:

Master's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Higher Education, Education, Business, Leadership).; or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.

• Leadership experience at the institutional/organizational/program level in higher education or similar settings.
• 3+ years of experience coordinating or managing projects in higher education or a comparable organization.
• Experience supporting faculty/staff development or instructional improvement initiatives (e.g., workshops, consultations, learning communities).
• Demonstrated leadership, management, and collaboration skills
• Proficiency with web conferencing, and productivity/project tools (e.g., Zoom, Microsoft 365).
• Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills; ability to collaborate across academic units.
• Demonstrated commitment to equity-minded, accessible practices (e.g., Universal Design for Learning).

Preferred Qualifications:

Ph.D. or post-graduate training in a relevant field (e.g., Higher Education, Education, Business, Leadership) with two years of relevant experience

• Proven experience designing and delivering professional learning for staff/faculty advising and/or teaching, with evaluation of impact.
• Experience leading cross-functional initiatives.
• Experience with budget tracking and grant writing and management (planning, coordination, reporting).
• Ability to collect, analyze, and present data to inform decisions.
• Knowledge of innovations in teaching/advising/learning and strategies for responsible adoption/support.
• Ability to work occasionally in the evenings or early mornings to support events and deadlines.

Success in this role requires strong communication, organization, and coordination skills, as well as the ability to build collaborative relationships with faculty, staff, and campus partners. This role will lead the development, integration, and sustainability of key initiatives and resources, including the UDL Hub, professional development pathways, Peer Teaching Fellows, and the Campus Expertise Network, while also guiding emerging efforts. By fostering cross-divisional collaboration and advancing accessible, holistic teaching practices, the role positions the CTL as a central hub for teaching excellence, accessibility, and student success at UNK.
