Full Job Description
Responsibilities

  • Leads the development and execution of a comprehensive, long-range capital plan, integrating growth initiatives, capital renewal, deferred maintenance, and real estate strategy across the Yale New Haven Hospital enterprise.
  • Establishes and oversees a standardized capital planning process, including the development of project proposals (SBARs, business cases, and pro formas) and guiding departments through capital approval pathways.
  • Implements an asset management framework to inform prioritization, investment timing, facility disposition, and lifecycle replacement planning.
  • Collaborates with Finance, Strategy, Facilities, and operational leaders to evaluate and prioritize investments based on clinical, financial, and operational impact.
  • Serves as a thought partner to executive leadership, delivering insights through capital planning analytics, portfolio performance metrics, and data-driven investment scenarios.
  • Coordinates with Planning, Design & Construction to align project execution with long-term strategic plans, ensuring efficient resource deployment and avoidance of redundant investment.
  • Maintains governance documentation, capital request records, and facilities design standards to ensure process integrity, transparency, and compliance.
  • Supports Board and leadership engagement through the preparation of funding requests, business plan presentations, and capital program reporting.

Qualifications

EDUCATION
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Architecture, Planning, Engineering, or related field required; Master's degree preferred.

EXPERIENCE
  • Minimum of 7 years of progressively responsible experience in facilities capital planning, execution, or program management; Healthcare capital experience required.

SPECIAL SKILLS
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in capital forecasting, scenario modeling, and business intelligence tools to support planning and reporting.
  • Demonstrated experience navigating complex organizations and aligning facilities investments with enterprise strategy.
  • Familiarity with SBARs, business case development, project controls, and capital governance best practices strongly preferred.

PHYSICAL DEMAND
  • Moderate physical effort: intermittent standing, walking, and reaching is required without assistance. Close computer work with intense concentration more than half of the day. Ability to discern color, ability to hear conversations and telephone communications clearly. The physical working environment will be a well-lit and ventilated office space with a work area and access to plotters, scanners, and printers. Part time working environment will require visits to construction and renovation sites. Applicant must be able to navigate sites under construction including stairs and ladders unassisted.
