Position Title: Director, Business Development (West Coast)

Salary Range: $160,000 - $180,000 USD

Job Class: Full Time

Work Location: Remote (Candidates must be based on the U.S. West Coast)

Job Overview

Reporting to the Chief Commercial Officer (CCO), the Director, Business Development is to promote and sell BioPharma's early- stage clinical services to the global pharmaceutical and biotech industry. To meet and exceed individual sales objectives and support the Business Development team in attaining corporate revenue targets set by the Executive Team at BioPharma. Services include: Phase I and BE/BA clinical services, Bioanalysis, Data Management and Biometrics. The role will interact with the Executive Team, Directors and Sr. Managers at BioPharma and will be responsible to lead and manage the internal units to effectively deliver and meet their client's expectations.

Responsibilities and Duties
  • To promote and sell BioPharma's early-stage clinical services and meet and/or exceed established sales targets.
  • Build and establish long-term client relationships.
  • Develop and execute Account plans for key clients in the industry.
  • Liaise with Contracts and Proposals to manage and approve all Budget Proposals submitted in response to RFPs/RFIs received and generated. This may require feasibility assessments with the operational leads in each department.
  • Lead and manage the process to meet client deliverables.
  • Attend and/or organize key industry conferences and client events (5-10 meetings per calendar year).
  • Report key opportunities and sales pipeline to the CCO.
  • Assist the COO in forming and executing business development strategies and plans for development and promotion of new and current service offerings.
  • Provide marketing intelligence and marketing support.
  • Ensure compliance with appropriate BioPharma's SOP's, GCP and ICH guidelines.

Qualifications
  • Completed postsecondary degree or diploma in a healthcare related discipline or
  • equivalent work experience.
  • 5+ years solid technical, project management or sales experience in the CRO
  • industry; experience with selling clinical services (Phase I-IV) preferred.
  • Knowledge of CRO industry and drug development process.
  • Established client contacts in the pharmaceutical/biotech industry.
  • Self-starter, highly motivated, capable to execute and deliver. Proven ability to develop and build and maintain effective and long-lasting business relationships.
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written), interpersonal, presentation and negotiation skills are essential.
  • Solid and proven project management experience; ability to handle multiple projects of a complex nature; strong attention to detail and exceptional follow-up skills; solid organization skills with capacity to prioritize and problem solve.
  • Ability to manage client visits from beginning to end, ensuring professional image is always maintained, and business objectives are met.
  • Strong team and customer service orientation with ability to work in a fast paced, growing environment.
  • Ability to maintain information in confidence and exercise good judgment.
  • Demonstrated technical competence with MS Word, Project, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, and Salesforce.com or similar CRM database.
  • Demonstrated experience dealing with a wide variety of project stakeholders at all levels in and across various organizational departments, and conflict management skills
