Hypertec is seeking a Director, Business Development to join our Corporate Strategy team in Montreal. If you are motivated, collaborative, and aligned with our values, we would love to hear from you.

What You'll Be Contributing:

Strategic Business Development

  • Identify and originate strategic commercial opportunities across Hypertec's ecosystem.
  • Develop executive-level relationships with customers, partners, investors and government agencies.
  • Build long-term opportunity pipelines aligned with corporate strategic priorities.
  • Lead pursuit strategies for complex opportunities requiring multiple Hypertec business units.
  • Coordinate internal executive sponsors throughout the opportunity lifecycle.


Cross-Business Unit Opportunity Development

  • Identify opportunities involving multiple Hypertec companies.
  • Coordinate participation across HCON, HSP, HPC & AI, HCM and other business units.
  • Ensure opportunities maximize enterprise value rather than individual BU value.
  • Transition mature opportunities to the appropriate BU for commercial execution.


Strategic Partnerships

  • Develop partnership strategies extending beyond supplier relationships into revenue generation, co-investment and strategic market development.


Government & Strategic Initiatives

Support strategic initiatives involving:

  • Sovereign AI

  • Government funding programs
  • National AI infrastructure
  • Research institutions
  • Public-private partnerships
  • Economic development organizations


Balance of Trade Program

  • Identify reciprocal commercial opportunities with major suppliers.
  • Analyze supplier purchasing requirements.
  • Convert procurement relationships into revenue opportunities.
  • Coordinate enterprise-wide commercial engagement.


Market Development

Develop new markets including:

  • AI Infrastructure
  • Sovereign AI
  • Data Centre Infrastructure
  • Government AI
  • Research Computing
  • HPC
  • Cloud Infrastructure
  • Energy Infrastructure


Opportunity Leadership

Lead complex opportunities from initial identification through transition including:

  • Executive stakeholder management
  • Opportunity strategy
  • Internal coordination
  • Resource alignment
  • Executive presentations
  • Commercial structuring
  • Risk assessment


What Sets You Apart:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Engineering, Finance, or a related discipline required.
  • MBA or other relevant graduate degree is considered an asset.
  • Minimum of 10-15 years of progressive experience in business development, strategic growth, or related leadership roles.
  • Experience in one or more of the following areas:
    • Strategic Business Development
    • Corporate Development
    • Management Consulting
    • Data Centre Infrastructure
    • AI Infrastructure
    • Government Relations
    • Strategic Partnerships

  • Demonstrated experience developing and advancing complex commercial opportunities involving multiple stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to engage and influence senior executives, strategic partners, and decision-makers.
  • Experience leading cross-functional initiatives from opportunity identification through strategic handoff for execution.
