Team Pegasus is DaVita's primary external relationship builder and the driving force behind the Village's kidney care growth. Composed of collaborative, strategic, and high-performing professionals, the team focuses on building partnerships with physicians, hospitals, and health systems, while leading acquisitions and expanding the high-performing network. Pegasus partners closely with local Operations leaders to seamlessly transition growth opportunities into operational success, acting as a visionary and capacity-creating engine for the organization.

The Business Development Director is responsible for leading market strategy, driving growth initiatives, and building strategic partnerships across assigned divisions. This role requires independent strategic thinking to proactively propose actionable growth strategies, including acquisitions, upstream physician engagement, joint ventures, and value-based care partnerships. The Director serves as a key "door opener" and strategic partner for Operations leadership, anticipating roadblocks, and driving projects to completion to support DaVita's overarching business goals.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Strategic Market Leadership & Operations Partnership: Serves as the primary strategic partner for Divisional Vice Presidents (DVPs) and Regional Operations Directors (RODs). Builds trust by proactively bringing new ideas, identifying growth opportunities, and independently leading market strategy rather than serving as a transactional support resource.
  • Business Development & Pipeline Management: Takes full ownership of the growth pipeline, including acquisitions, joint ventures, and new service offerings (e.g., Value-Based Care). Identifies next steps, coordinates with internal partners (Legal, Operations, Finance), and independently solves problems to drive projects to completion.
  • External Relationship Management: Acts as the primary "door opener" for DaVita in the assigned market. Independently leads physician outreach, external partner meetings (e.g., hospitals, health systems), and joint venture discussions. Prepares materials and presentations with high autonomy and strategic depth.
  • Strategic Analysis & Reporting: Synthesizes complex information and data to present actionable recommendations. Moves beyond presenting facts to delivering independent analysis, business context, and clear strategic paths forward during regular business reviews and strategy sessions.
  • Other duties as assigned.

The above statements describe the general nature and level of work being performed by individuals employed in this position. This job description is not intended to be an exhaustive list of all duties and responsibilities required in this position.

  • Demonstrated ability to build trust and influence senior operations leaders and external partners required.
  • Strong financial acumen and experience with healthcare M&A, value-based care, or joint ventures preferred.
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency in MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook required.
