Full Job Description
Job Description Summary: The Director, Business Applications is responsible for ensuring Green Plains' business processes are effectively enabled, integrated, and supported through enterprise applications and technology solutions. This role serves as the critical link between business operations and technology, partnering with leaders across Finance, Operations, Commercial, Human Resources, and other functions to improve processes, enhance data quality, and deliver practical business outcomes.

Reporting to the Chief Administrative Officer, the Director will lead a small team of application specialists focused on understanding business needs, translating those needs into technology-enabled solutions, and driving successful implementation and adoption. Success in this role requires strong business acumen, hands-on leadership, practical project management experience, and the ability to align people, processes, data, and systems.

The Director is accountable for the prioritization, execution, and ongoing effectiveness of the Business Applications portfolio. This individual will work closely with business stakeholders to identify opportunities for operational improvement, establish governance around business processes and data, and ensure enterprise applications are delivering measurable value. Rather than serving as a technology strategist, this role acts as a business partner and integrator, helping functional leaders optimize how work gets done across the organization. The ideal candidate brings experience leading cross-functional business initiatives, implementing and improving enterprise systems, and driving organizational change.. The role requires a practical, collaborative leader focused on business outcomes, execution discipline, and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Build, lead, and develop a high-performing team of business analysts and application specialists, fostering a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Own executive stakeholder communication and governance, presenting program status, risks, and strategic recommendations to senior leadership.
  • Translate functional strategies into actionable business and technology initiatives, providing executive leadership with data-driven insights and recommendations that drive competitive advantage.
  • Oversee the full portfolio of business applications projects, establishing standards, methodologies, and governance frameworks that ensure consistent, high-quality delivery.
  • Lead enterprise-wide program delivery, directing cross-functional teams and holding ultimate accountability for scope, budget, timeline, and business outcomes.
  • Direct and support the planning and execution of projects across the Business Applications portfolio, ensuring clarity in scope, timelines, dependencies, and resource allocation.
  • Drive effective project intake, prioritization, and sequencing to align demand with team capacity and enterprise priorities.
  • Promote accountability for project outcomes by setting expectations for status reporting, milestone tracking, and post-implementation review.
  • Recruit, develop, and retain top talent; establish clear performance expectations, provide coaching and development opportunities, and build a succession pipeline within the Business Applications team.
  • Drive a culture of customer-centricity and business partnership, ensuring the team consistently delivers solutions that are aligned with enterprise priorities and measurable outcomes.
  • Responsible for the utilization of the enterprise application portfolio, including Certify/Emburse, Capex360 (Project Management software), OneStream (Financial Reporting & Account Reconciliations) and Dynamics Finance & Operations, overseeing strategic direction, vendor relationships, and continuous improvement.
  • Develop deep partnerships with Finance, Operations, Commercial, Human Resources, and other business functions to understand priorities, challenges, and opportunities for process improvement and technology enablement.
  • Embed Business Applications within supported functions to ensure strong business alignment, rapid issue resolution, and proactive identification of improvement opportunities.
  • Drive continuous optimization of the enterprise applications portfolio, challenging existing processes, eliminating unnecessary complexity, and maximizing the value derived from current technology investments.
  • Identify and implement automation opportunities that reduce manual work, improve data quality, accelerate decision-making, and increase organizational productivity.
  • Lead the practical application of Artificial Intelligence and emerging technologies across business functions, focusing on use cases that generate measurable efficiency gains and business value.
  • Facilitate the integration of business processes across functional areas, ensuring enterprise applications support end-to-end workflows rather than departmental silos.
  • Monitor application utilization, adoption, and business outcomes, ensuring systems are fully leveraged and continuously improved to meet evolving business needs.
  • Champion change management and user adoption efforts to ensure successful implementation of new capabilities and realization of expected business benefits.
  • Develop a roadmap focused on business process improvement, workflow automation, data accessibility, and decision support rather than simply deploying new technology.
  • Evaluate opportunities to rationalize and simplify the application portfolio, reducing redundancy, improving user experience, and lowering support complexity.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in business applications, enterprise technology, or related fields, including 3+ years in a director or senior leadership role with direct people management responsibility.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of enterprise business operations and IT systems; demonstrated ability to architect scalable technology strategies that align with and accelerate organizational goals.
  • Expert-level command of business analysis methodologies, enterprise architecture frameworks, and program governance
  • Proven track record of executive-level program leadership with full P&L or budget accountability and demonstrated business impact across large, matrixed organizations.
  • Deep expertise with enterprise platforms including Dynamics Finance & Operations, OneStream, and related technologies; experience leading major system implementations, upgrades, or vendor negotiations strongly preferred.
