Description
The Director, Broadcast Production - Golf sits on the Broadcast Operations and Technology team and reports to the Vice President, Broadcast Operations and Technology. This role leads production management for WTGL and TGL, including season and one-off budget development, spend tracking and actualization, crew planning and booking, travel and onsite logistics, vendor contracting and management, and match-week production operations at SoFi Center. Strong financial discipline is essential, as this person will build accurate budgets, monitor costs in real time, and reconcile actuals against plan with precision. Serving as the operational backbone for each TGL telecast, the Director ensures every match is fully crewed, on budget, and logistically sound from advance planning through final closeout. This role partners closely with Broadcast Engineering, Competition, Venue Operations, and rights-holder teams to turn production requirements into well-executed, fully accounted-for outcomes.
Responsibilities:- Build, maintain, and reconcile the season production budget; lead actualization, variance reporting, and forecasting against approved spend
- Build one-off and specialty budgets as required for non-recurring productions, pilots, vendor evaluations, and special projects
- Source, negotiate, contract, and schedule full freelance crew rosters across all production disciplines for every match week
- Own crew travel, lodging, ground transportation, per diem, meals, and onsite logistics from advance through wrap
- Negotiate hotel room blocks, group rates, and property agreements for crew accommodations across match weeks
- Negotiate day rates and kit fees; maintain rate card discipline season over season
- Aid with vendor SOWs and master service agreements
- Work with the Legal department on vendor agreements and contract tracking
- Track and report labor costs in real time, including overtime tier exposure, weather delay impact, and meal penalty risk
- Build and maintain call sheets, production schedules, crew advance documents, and match-week run sheets
- Maintain certificates of insurance, contractor agreements, W-9s, and all production compliance documentation
- Manage credentialing, parking, hospitality, and onsite production office for staff
- Partner with Broadcast Engineering on scope-to-budget alignment, crew structure, and equipment plans for each match
- Coordinate with rights-holder production teams on advance, run-of-show logistics, and crew integration
- Lead post-event cost reconciliation, vendor invoicing, and final budget closeout for each match and the full season
- Continuously improve production planning workflows, templates, crew databases, and vendor scorecards
Requirements
- 10+ years of broadcast production experience, with significant time in a Production Manager or Production Operations leadership role
- Proven track record running live sports productions at the network, league, or major event level
- Deep budgeting, forecasting, and cost reconciliation expertise; comfortable owning multi-million-dollar production budgets end-to-end
- Established freelance crew network across multiple disciplines and geographies
- Demonstrated ability to scale up and manage a temporary production team during busy season
- Experience negotiating with truck vendors, specialty equipment providers, and broadcast service vendors
- Strong working knowledge of live remote production workflows (truck-based, REMI, hybrid)
- Familiarity with crew labor frameworks including overtime tiers, kit fees, meal penalties, and applicable union or guild rules
- Strong financial and spreadsheet skills, with experience using budgeting and production management tools
- Excellent organizational, communication, and vendor management skills
- Ability to operate under tight live-event timelines with minimal supervision
- Willingness to travel and work non-traditional hours during match weeks
Preferred:- Live golf production experience
- Experience launching or scaling a new league, property, or recurring live event
- Familiarity with arena-based or non-traditional venue productions
- Existing relationships with broadcast service vendors and freelance crew leaders
- Working knowledge of production management software
