Job Description

The Director of Automation and Optimization (Global Security) will report to the Senior Director of Access Provisioning (IAM Operations) to lead the improvement of application access provisioning and de-provisioning activities across RBC and its subsidiaries. This role will involve working closely with peers such as Provisioning, Intelligence, Automation, and Control Governance teams to gain deep knowledge of processes, identify automation opportunities, and drive solutions that accelerate provisioning cycles, reduce manual effort, and enhance compliance.

The selected candidate will be accountable for championing process efficiency, consulting on governance frameworks, and building a high-performing optimization team.

What will you do?
  • Analyze current access provisioning and de-provisioning workflows across enterprise applications to identify and prioritize bottlenecks, redundancies, and manual touchpoints requiring automation
  • Develop comprehensive automation strategies and roadmaps to accelerate provisioning/de-provisioning cycles, reduce manual effort, improve SLA compliance
  • Work collaboratively with IAM colleagues, business stakeholders, and application teams to translate requirements into actionable automation plans
  • Partner with automation teams to evaluate and design automation tools and engines that will optimize existing manual provisioning workflows
  • Consult on the establishment of governance frameworks, such as metrics and monitoring mechanisms, to track automation performance and ensure access control integrity
  • Partner with Engineering and Application teams to integrate automation solutions within DevOps pipelines and enterprise architecture

What do you need to succeed?

Must have:
  • 10+ years of Identity & Access Management, or related Technology and Operations, experience; with 5+ years in a leadership or senior technical role
  • Expert-level proficiency in Identity & Access Management controls and best practices; including enterprise and/or industry identity management systems, access provisioning platforms and IAM protocols
  • Expert-level proficiency in workflow analysis and process mapping with experience implementing automated solutions with time-saving results
  • Advanced proficiency with automation technologies: workflow automation tools, RPA platforms, scripting languages (Python, PowerShell, Java), and API integrations
  • Demonstrated success in reducing manual touchpoints, improving process cycle times, and managing large-scale automation initiatives
  • Experience with JIRA, and documentation tools for process tracking and automation governance
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and design skills with excellent oral and written communication abilities


Nice-to-have
  • Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical degree/diploma
  • Proven expertise optimizing and automating manual workflows using automation engines and RPA platforms
  • Hands-on experience with SQL, database querying, and integration platforms to connect provisioning systems
  • Hands-on experience with enterprise IAM tools such as Sailpoint, Okta, CyberArk, or Microsoft Entra ID etc.
  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure) and hybrid identity environments
  • Background in cybersecurity and access control best practices
  • Familiarity with DevOps frameworks and CI/CD pipeline integration
