Responsibilities

Director Ancillary Applications provides strategic leadership, governance, operational oversight, and lifecycle management for all Ancillary and third-party applications across the enterprise, including clinical systems, departmental applications, standalone platforms, specialized vendor solutions and acquired legacy systems supporting hospital and ambulatory operations. This role is responsible for ensuring these applications remain stable, secure, integrated, compliant, and aligned with organizational objectives through effective application support, interoperability management, vendor oversight, application rationalization, and enterprise integration strategies across clinical, operational, and business domains. This position collaborates closely with operational leaders, clinical stakeholders, cybersecurity, infrastructure, enterprise applications, and executive leadership to ensure technology solutions effectively support patient care, operational efficiency, regulatory compliance, and organizational growth initiatives. This position requires the ability to independently identify and fulfill responsibilities with minimal oversight, especially on critical matters. The role frequently involves exercising discretion and independent judgment, evaluating different options, and making informed decisions. The position is expected to effectively prioritize tasks, manage time efficiently, and ensure deadlines are consistently met.

Required qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Healthcare Informatics, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of progressive IT leadership experience supporting healthcare applications.
  • Experience managing ancillary clinical applications, standalone systems, and healthcare integrations.
  • Strong understanding of healthcare interoperability standards including HL7, APIs, and interface engines.
  • Strong knowledge of EMR’s like Epic and Meditech.
  • Knowledge of imaging systems, laboratory systems, cardiology, pharmacy, surgical systems, and other specialty platforms.
  • Strong vendor management, project management, and operational leadership experience.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Open to travelling up to 50% of the time.

 

Preferred qualifications:

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or other relevant certifications.
  • Experience working in large-scale healthcare systems or hospital settings.
