Position Details

What You Will Do
  • Lead execution of the AI strategy in alignment with HGAI mission, principles, and enterprise priorities.
  • Work with the Chief Information and AI Officer to continuously evolve the enterprise AI strategy, roadmap, and operating model.
  • Own and manage the AI use-case intake process, prioritization approach, and delivery pipeline to ensure measurable business value.
  • Establish disciplined governance to track outcomes, risks, and benefits realization.
  • Own and maintain a comprehensive inventory of AI solutions, models, vendors, use cases, and related governance documentation.
  • Implement lifecycle management practices aligned to HGAI principles of sustainability and accountability.
  • Conduct periodic reviews to ensure all AI solutions remain effective, relevant, and monitored for performance, risk, and unintended drift.
  • Embed responsible AI practices in coordination with Enterprise Risk Management.
  • Own and maintain AI governance documentation, including intake processes, guardrails, standards, decision records, approval workflows, and inventory controls.
  • Provide guidance and oversight to ensure the AI Security Specialist's work is integrated into AI solution design, deployment, and ongoing governance, whether through direct or matrixed accountability.
  • Ensure alignment with internal AI policies, HGAI guiding principles, and regulatory expectations, including OSFI and NIST guidance or frameworks.
  • Oversee bias testing, explainability, model risk management, and regulatory documentation.
  • Lead, coach, and develop the initial team of two ML/AI Specialists, setting clear priorities, expectations, and delivery standards.
  • Provide day-to-day direction, technical guidance, and performance oversight to support high-quality execution of AI initiatives.
  • Build team capability in responsible AI practices, solution delivery, model governance, and business-focused problem solving.

Who You Are
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field; equivalent experience will be considered.
  • 10+ years of experience in technology, data, or AI leadership roles.
  • Proven delivery of AI, machine learning, or advanced analytics solutions from concept through production in financial services, insurance, or other regulated environments.
  • Strong understanding of AI governance, risk management, and compliance frameworks.
  • Hands-on experience with AI technologies, cloud and data platforms, and model lifecycle practices, including MLOps or LLMOps.
  • Familiarity with OSFI expectations or similar regulatory environments.
  • Demonstrated experience leading technical teams, managing vendors, and influencing senior stakeholders across business, technology, risk, and security functions.
