Full Job Description

Position Responsibilities:

Reporting to the AVP & Actuary, NAIC & Tax Valuation, this is a unique opportunity to combine technical actuarial expertise with strategic business impact. You'll lead critical tax valuation deliverables, contribute to key regulatory submissions, and collaborate across Finance, Tax, Legal, and Actuarial teams to support the company's financial strength, regulatory compliance, and growth objectives.

Financial Reporting & Analyses

  • Own the various Tax reserve deliverables including Tax basis change memo, determination of the spreadable Tax basis changes, E&Y Tax questionnaires and other Tax accounting treatment deliverables.
  • Provide expert guidance on complex tax and actuarial valuation issues, influencing decisions across Finance, Tax, Legal, and senior leadership teams.
  • Prepare technical responses to regulatory, audit, and IRS inquiries.
  • Analyze consolidated NAIC financial results for US legal entities, including delivery of clear, concise, value-added analysis and commentary on earnings & reserves to US Finance & Actuarial. 
  • Present the US NAIC Legal entities financial results to Senior Management

US Regulatory Submissions

  • Lead planning, coordination, preparation, and review of regulatory NAIC Actuarial financial results / reporting including Asset Adequacy Testing (AAT) results and Actuarial Opinion Memoranda (AOMs).
  • Oversee actuarial filings across US legal entities and product lines.
  • Author and review key sections as needed - liabilities, valuation assumptions, asset adequacy analysis, and reinsurance arrangements.
  • Ensure compliance with evolving statutory requirements, valuation standards, and regulatory guidance.

Actuarial Projects & Governance

  • Offer governance support to other NAIC staff by researching actuarial and accounting questions, clearly communicating findings, and proposing solutions.
  • Other research and projects as assigned, including valuation reviews of assumptions and methodology, as needed.
  • Partner with AI and digital innovation teams to modernize valuation processes and explore emerging technologies.
  • Responsible for maintaining various materiality threshold and quarterly guidance document.
  • Opportunity to work with new tools and collaborate with AI champions to modernize current tools

Required Qualifications:

  • Actuarial designation (FSA / FCIA) with 5+ years of relevant experience in progressive actuarial roles
  • Fluency in Tax, NAIC valuation and accounting methodology is an asset
  • Prior valuation exposure and/or familiarity with US products is an asset
  • Excellent analytical, actuarial, and problem-solving skills with ability to analyze results, identify root issues & key drivers, and propose and communicate appropriate solutions.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Self-motivated with strong organizational skills and adaptability to fast-changing priorities
  • Proactive with an ability to work on cross-functional teams as well as independently

Salary range is expected to be between

$128,550.00 USD - $222,820.00 USD

Employees also have the opportunity to participate in incentive programs and earn incentive compensation tied to business and individual performance. The actual salary will vary depending on local market conditions, geography and relevant job-related factors such as knowledge, skills, qualifications, experience, and education/training.
