DIRECTOR / ACADEMIC & PROFESSIONAL PROGRAMS
Position Summary
The director of academic and professional programs within the CMU Online department provides administrative oversite for undergraduate interdisciplinary academic degree programs and certificates, delivered online and at distance. The director is responsible for leading the effort to craft a strategic vision for prior learning credit initiatives, facilitating communication between main campus, faculty, staff, and those involved with the delivery of programs via CMU Online. The director also provides updates to the curriculum, reviews policies and procedures, seeks new opportunities for expansion, and optimizes effectiveness. The director oversees the academic operations of degrees and certificates including admissions, curriculum development, interdisciplinary council, collaborations among campus departments, student learning outcomes assessment, program review, resolution of student issues, and faculty approvals.
Required Qualifications
Master's degree from an accredited institution.
Three years of experience in higher education as a faculty member and/or administrator.
Demonstrated experience with at distance program delivery, online course delivery, and educational programming for the adult and post-traditional learner.
Demonstrated experience with curriculum development.
Excellent communication skills and demonstrated leadership ability with various populations.
Strong track record of facilitating collaboration and creativity.
Preferred Qualifications
Doctoral degree.
Five years of experience in higher education as a faculty member and/or administrator.
Demonstrated experience leading strategic planning, substantive and decisive evaluation of academic programs, learning outcomes assessment and accreditation, developing interdisciplinary programs and the application of new technologies.
Demonstrated experience with supervision of faculty and staff.
Demonstrated experience working with adult learners and business and community partners.
Knowledge of relevant admission procedures at the undergraduate and graduate level.
Duties & Responsibilities
Provides academic oversite of certificates, undergraduate majors, and program(s), including admissions and operational support.
Responsible for learning outcomes assessments for certificates and degrees within the academic portfolio.
Evaluates curriculum and directs the development of new coursework, certificates, majors, and programs as needed.
Leads initiatives to optimize the learning experience for online and at distance students.
Identifies, evaluates, and develops innovative forms of academic delivery.
Reviews marketing materials, webpages, and the Bulletin copy within the academic portfolio.
Develops the yearly strategic enrollment plan for all programs within the academic portfolio.
Facilitates communication between academic departments, faculty, and staff involved with the coordination and delivery of programs within the academic portfolio through CMU Online.
Works with the Business and Community Outreach team to develop custom training programs and pipelines for regional employers.
Represents programs within the academic portfolio through participation on various councils and committees at the university.
Analyzes data to monitor student stop outs and implement intervention strategies.
Manages executed articulation agreements, affiliation agreements, and memorandums of understanding/agreement with external partners.
Reviews and recommends policies and procedures for efficiencies and effectiveness for programs within the academic portfolio.
Assists with the identification and implementation of professional development activities and creating annual goals for noncredit programming, micro-credentials, and badges.
Collaborates on strategic endeavors to increase enrollment for certificates and degrees within the academic portfolio.
Oversees budget development and provides support for program financial activities to ensure compliance with college and university policies and procedures.
Responsible for the academic program review process which occurs every seven years.
Works jointly with the Office of Licensure, Regulatory Services, and Human Capital to manage the licensure, compliance, and regulation related to the academic portfolio.
Oversees the hiring, training, development, and evaluation of professional and support staff.
Performs other duties as assigned.
