Reporting to the Project Director, the Construction Director is responsible for the planning, organization, and execution of major infrastructure projects. In this leadership role, you will oversee all construction activities and provide regular updates to project governance committees (Executive Committee, Steering Committee, Project Management Committee, and Client Leadership Team). You will work closely with Technical, Commercial, Procurement, Quality, and Project Controls teams to ensure successful project delivery.
What you will do :
Leadership & Team Management
• Establish the construction management organization and workforce plan.
• Lead, mentor, and develop multidisciplinary construction teams.
• Oversee Construction Managers and Sector Leads.
• Foster a collaborative, high-performance, and safety-focused culture.
Construction Planning & Execution
• Plan and oversee design, procurement, construction, and temporary works activities.
• Validate project schedules, construction phasing, and execution strategies.
• Ensure work progresses according to contractual requirements, budget, and schedule.
• Coordinate stakeholders to ensure efficient project delivery.
Project Controls & Financial Management
• Develop construction budgets and workforce forecasts.
• Monitor project performance and recommend corrective actions when required.
• Review monthly financial reports, cost forecasts, and variances.
• Ensure project objectives related to cost, schedule, and productivity are achieved.
Procurement & Contract Management
• Define procurement and subcontracting strategies.
• Participate in the evaluation and award of major contracts.
• Oversee contract administration, change management, and claims activities.
• Maintain ethical and professional relationships with suppliers and subcontractors.
Quality, Health, Safety & Environment (QHSE)
• Ensure implementation of project quality and safety programs.
• Promote a zero-incident safety culture across the project.
• Conduct regular site visits and participate in safety reviews.
• Ensure compliance with company policies, contractual requirements, and regulatory standards.
• Review major incident investigations and corrective action plans.
Stakeholder Management
• Represent the construction function with clients, partners, and executive governance bodies.
• Collaborate with project, technical, commercial, and support teams.
• Contribute to the successful delivery of complex projects in multicultural and collaborative environments.
This role could be for you if you have :
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum 15 years of experience delivering major infrastructure and/or heavy civil construction projects with a general contractor.
• Proven experience on large-scale, technically complex infrastructure projects.
• Strong expertise in construction management, project controls, contract administration, and execution planning.
• Demonstrated experience managing client relationships and supporting commercial and contractual negotiations.
• Proven ability to lead and develop large multidisciplinary construction teams.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
• Results-oriented, strategic thinker with strong field presence.
• Ability to thrive in fast-paced, complex, and multicultural project environments.
