Pay Range*: $139,859.20 - $192,322.00 annually

Position Summary

The Memorial Medical Center Foundation (MMCF) raises and stewards philanthropic support for Long Beach Medical Center (LBMC) and Miller Children's and Women's Hospital (MCWH). Reporting to the Executive Director of Administration and Operations, the Director of Prospect Management and Research establishes and executes an innovative and strategic vision for the process of identification, research, qualification, and prospect management of MMCF's most promising prospects for significant financial support.

The Director will establish efforts vital to MMCF's fundraising goals, including a comprehensive prospect management system, innovative research infrastructure and a robust prospect discovery program.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities of the Job:
• Supports the mission, vision, and values of LBMC, MCWH, and MMCF, and actively works to enhance the reputation of LBMC and MMCF.
• Leads the creation, dissemination and utilization of research and prospect management efforts to significantly expand the prospect base, to strengthen the prospect pipeline, and to enhance prospect management and the solicitation pipeline to maximize fundraising success.
• Serves as the principal authority on prospect management, research, philanthropic trends, and patterns of wealth and industry. Provides vision, best practices recommendations and direction for effective services, resources and tools.
• Develops and executes a comprehensive and results-oriented prospect development plan that includes traditional and innovative strategies. Annually evaluates the plan to ensure alignment to MMCF's fundraising goals and priorities. Regularly analyzes current and future needs, anticipating and planning for growth and utilization of prospect development.
• Oversees creation and implementation of a donor-centric prospect management system (policy, procedures, tracking and reporting) in collaboration with MMCF leadership. Works with the Director of Data Systems, Technology, and Reporting to lead efforts to advance prospect management tracking in MMCF's CRM and to create self-service prospect management and metric reports and intelligence. Proactively supports major gift pipeline meetings with pipeline data and insights. Monitors timely movement through the pipeline and establishes strategies to convert prospects to donors.
• Gains expert knowledge and use of MMCF's CRM and demonstrates a mastery of prospect management queries, reports and business intelligence tools. Queries and analyzes prospect management data as needed for project and reporting purposes. Maintains accurate and up-to-date records of prospect information and research findings in MMCF's CRM.
• Oversees creation and implementation of prospect identification services and ensures that all frontline fundraising teams have an ongoing stream of prospects for discovery and engagement. Employs standard identification processes, including predictive analytics, descriptive analytics (data mining), and wealth screening. Demonstrates ability to identify and utilize new and/or innovative prospect identification resources and methodologies, keeping up with industry trends and best practices. Synthesizes complex data to provide insights on prospect opportunities across geographic, demographic or philanthropic areas.
• Leads efforts to wealth screen and analyze daily patient pools for prospect identification. Works with Director of Data Systems, Technology, and Reporting to establish processes to advance Epic patient data access for wealth screening efforts. Works with the Database Administrator to ensure that all viable patient prospects are entered into MMCF's CRM daily.
• Creates and directs all aspects of the prospect research program focused on the discovery and evaluation of prospective donors, their interests and relationship, inclination to give and philanthropic capacity to give. Responsibilities include the development of policies and procedures; outlining research methodologies; developing quality control standards and processes and managing research resources. Develops research request process and manages to ensure that all critical deadlines and priorities are met. Develops prospect rating process and applies to all newly identified and request-based research. Creates standardized templates for research requests, including full profiles, executive briefings, event lookbooks and more.
• Maintains an overall knowledge of MMCF's top prospects and donors. Identifies strategies for creatively engaging individual and cohorts of prospects and donors, employing knowledge of cross-campus partners, MMCF Trustees and other resources for engagement.
• Ensures adherence to ethical and confidentiality guidelines for CASE and APRA, as well as MMCF's standards for ethics and data privacy. Develops standards to ensure research and prospect data collection and use conforms to ethical principles, confidentiality requirements, federal and state regulations and public information laws.
• Tracks and reports out on research, prospect identification and prospect management metrics. Supports the development and management of fundraising productivity metrics.
• Demonstrates effective partnership with MMCF staff and cross-campus partners, and regularly interfaces to gather key information, communicate changes, and explore solutions to various issues.
• Interacts with national or international technology groups and fundraising professionals to resolve problems with industry scope, determine standards and best practices, and exchange state of industry information.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Placement in the pay range is based on multiple factors including, but not limited to, relevant years of experience and qualifications. Minimum Requirements

Qualifications:
• Minimum 10 years' healthcare prospect research and prospect management experience preferred.
• Minimum 5 years' leadership experience preferred.
• Knowledge and understanding of fundraising prospect management principals and methods required.
• Previous experience in NXT preferred.
• Demonstrated experience in creative and flexible research skills and ability to analyze, interpret, summarize and present information effectively preferred.
• Pioneering, self-motivated professional with a client services orientation and an entrepreneurial spirit preferred.
• Exceptional reading, technical writing and proofreading skills with the ability to synthesize and interpret high volumes of data preferred.
• Careful attention to detail, formatting and readability preferred.
• Demonstrated skill in conveying complex information straightforwardly and concisely that support planning and decision making preferred.
• Ability to prepare information in an appropriate form for different audiences preferred.
• Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills preferred.

Education/Licensure/Certification:
• Bachelor's degree required.
