Job Description

Role Overview

The Director, Commercial Airborne Power has P&L responsibility for the Commercial Airborne market within our Power Systems business, leading market strategy, customer relationships, growth, and overall business performance.

Our Power Systems portfolio brings together energy storage, power electronics, and system-level controls and integration to solve complex electrical power challenges across commercial airborne, transit and vocational vehicle, and other demanding applications.

This leader connects market and customer needs with product strategy and business priorities-determining where we compete, how we win, and where we invest to create sustainable, profitable growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own market P&L performance, including revenue, profitability, investment, pipeline, and lifecycle economics.

  • Develop and execute market and customer strategy, including growth priorities, competitive positioning, and adjacent opportunities.

  • Build trusted relationships with strategic customers, partners, and industry leaders.

  • Understand customer strategies, technology roadmaps, market trends, regulatory drivers, and competitive dynamics.

  • Identify, shape, qualify, and capture new business opportunities.

  • Translate market insight into prioritized requirements and partner with Product Leadership to shape energy storage, power electronics, and system-level control and integration roadmaps.

  • Develop business cases and recommend where the organization should-and should not-invest.

  • Balance near-term customer commitments and business performance with long-term product and market growth.

  • Build alignment and lead across Product Leadership, Engineering, Program Management, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Finance, and other functions to translate market priorities into executable business plans and deliver P&L commitments.

Commercial Airborne Focus

The initial assignment leads our Commercial Airborne Power market, with particular emphasis on growth. The leader will:

  • Develop the strategy for commercial aircraft electrification and electrical power opportunities.

  • Build relationships with aircraft OEMs, propulsion providers, and strategic technology partners.

  • Shape opportunities that leverage our capabilities in energy storage, power electronics, and system-level controls and integration.

  • Position the business early on future aircraft platforms and influence architectures and requirements.

  • Convert emerging technologies and development programs into scalable, certifiable production businesses.

  • Identify partnerships and adjacent opportunities that accelerate profitable growth.

Candidate Profile

We are seeking a leader who can operate at the intersection of customers, markets, technology, products, and business economics.

What Success Looks Like

Success means delivering P&L commitments while building the future business. This leader will strengthen strategic customer relationships, establish and execute a clear market strategy, build and convert a prioritized pipeline, and partner across functions to translate market needs into executable priorities. Success will be measured by not only near-term revenue and profitability, but by creating the customer positions, product alignment, and investments required for sustainable, profitable growth.

This position will be posted for at least 5 calendar days. The posting will remain active until the position is filled, or a qualified pool of candidates is identified.

  • Experience building and managing senior-level customer relationships.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead across functions and influence decisions in a matrixed organization.
  • Strong commercial and analytical judgment, including development of business cases and investment decisions.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent relevant experience.

Preferred Skills and Education

  • Aerospace or other highly regulated / safety-critical industry experience.
  • Electrification, energy storage, power electronics, controls, or integrated power-systems experience.
  • Experience with long-cycle product development and transition from development into production.
