Full Job Description
Job Summary
Plans, supervises, and evaluates patient care and nursing personnel of a clinical area on a 24-hour basis. Coordinates duties for all shifts to accomplish continuity of safe quality patient care. Monitors outcome measures and shares variances with Associates for continuous process improvement in a clinical area. Responsible for supervision of the Freestanding Emergency Departments and the Urgent Care Center, as requested by the UMC Chief Nursing Officer.

Provides clinical patient care to patients utilizing the nursing process. Utilizes knowledge of professional nursing practice in providing age-appropriate care based on scientific principles, nursing standards of practice, and standards of patient care for patient populations.

Work Experience
Five years of lead/supervisory/management experience is required. Experience preferably in a clinical setting.

License/Registration/Certification
1. Current and active license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Texas is required.
2. Current BLS traning is required.
3. ACLS and PALS are required to be obtained within 6 months of being in the department.
4. Obtainment of the Nursing Professional Development (NPD-BC) certification, Certified Nurse Manager and Leader (CNML), Nurse Executive Leadership certification or one of the following approved nursing certification in specialty area is highly preferred:
- Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN)
- Certified Flight Registered Nurse (CFRN)
- Certified Pediatric Emergency Nurse (CPEN)
- Critical Care Registered Nurse (CCRN)

Education and Training
Bachelor degree in Nursing is required.
