Responsibilities

Summary:
The Director, Associate Corporate Counsel provides legal guidance to Company management primarily regarding general liability litigation, discovery and eDiscovery.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
  • The Director, Associate Corporate Counsel assists in the management of general liability and auto liability litigation in collaboration with the Executive Vice President, Corporate Counsel and a third-party claim's administrator.
  • Provides guidance on legal strategy and case valuation.
  • The Director, Associate Corporate Counsel drafts or revises legal documents (e.g.,motions, briefs, discovery responses or legal memoranda).
  • Oversees and manages company's legal hold program.
  • The Director, Associate Corporate Counsel continuously identifies and implementsprocess improvements in the delivery of legal services.
  • Develops strong partnerships with internal clients and cross-functional areas to achievesuccessful business outcomes.
  • Develops and delivers training on various legal issues to client groups.
  • Contributes to successful development and implementation of departmental initiativesthrough collaboration and teamwork.
  • May review and draft contracts with clients, vendors and contractors.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:
  • Graduation from an accredited law school with J.D. with a strong academic record,admission to at least one state bar.
  • Three (3) to five (5) years of relevant legal experience.
  • Substantial relevant subject matter experience required in two or more of the following fields: institutional litigation, insurance coverage, bench or jury trials, motion practice, discovery and eDiscovery, alternative dispute resolution, or risk management
  • Independently determine negotiation strategy within a given authority range.
  • Exercise independent judgment in determining when supervisory input is necessary.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to express complex legal issues in clear, concise language.
  • Ability to travel as required with overnight stays.
