Executive Director, Digital Banking Product Owner
Business Unit: Wealth Management Digital Banking Platforms
Position Location: Purchase, NY

Our Digital Platforms team is seeking an accomplished, strategic Executive Director to help shape the vision, define multi-year product strategy, and drive execution of high-impact digital banking initiatives across Morgan Stanley and E*TRADE client-facing platforms. This leader will play a critical role in influencing the future direction of the firm's digital banking platform, aligning product priorities with Wealth Management objectives, and delivering client-centric solutions that deepen relationships, increase engagement, and support growth across banking and cash management.

As a senior product leader, you will partner with Digital Product Management, Technology, Design, Operations, Legal, Risk, Compliance, Fraud, and senior business stakeholders to translate strategic objectives into execution-ready roadmaps and scalable platform capabilities. You will lead complex initiatives from concept through delivery, balancing innovation, risk management, regulatory expectations, operational readiness, and measurable client and business outcomes. This role requires a leader who can operate at both strategic and executional levels, influence across a matrixed organization, and bring clarity to complex business and technology challenges. The ideal candidate will have deep experience in digital product leadership, banking or wealth management, client experience, and technology delivery, with a proven ability to drive transformation at scale.

Position Summary

  • Drive measurable business impact across revenue growth, client experience, digital engagement, and banking platform adoption


  • Lead the strategy, roadmap, and delivery of next-generation digital banking capabilities across client-facing mobile and web platforms, including emerging areas such as embedded AI, personalization, cash management, payments, and self-service banking experiences.


  • Shape and advance the multi-year product vision for digital banking offerings, ensuring alignment with Wealth Management priorities, client needs, commercial objectives, operational readiness, and risk and control expectations.


  • Drive complex, high-impact initiatives from strategy through execution by partnering with Technology, Design, Operations, Legal, Risk, Compliance, Fraud, and business stakeholders to define requirements, resolve dependencies, and deliver scalable solutions.


  • Lead product discovery, client research, competitive analysis, and usability testing to identify opportunities that improve adoption, deepen engagement, and differentiate Morgan Stanley's digital banking and cash management experiences.


  • Translate business objectives, client insights, market trends, and data analysis into actionable product roadmaps, executive-ready recommendations, and measurable delivery outcomes.


  • Serve as a senior product leader and change agent, influencing cross-functional teams and senior stakeholders to make decisions, prioritize investments, and execute against strategic Wealth Management goals.


  • Establish strong product governance across initiatives, including prioritization, requirements quality, delivery oversight, risk mitigation, stakeholder communications, and post-launch measurement.


  • Monitor the digital banking, wealth management, cash management, fintech, and payments landscapes to identify emerging capabilities, competitive threats, and opportunities for platform innovation.


  • Present product strategy, recommendations, risks, and progress to executive management, driving alignment and accountability across teams.


Experience

  • 12+ years in product, platform, or technology leadership


  • Experience delivering complex, enterprise-scale platforms


  • Experience in Wealth Management, retail and/or commercial banking, and/or consumer financial technology


  • Strong ability to lead across cross-functional, matrixed organizations


  • Demonstrated experience leading and developing high-performing product teams; direct people management experience strongly preferred or required


  • BA/BS required; MBA (or advanced degree) preferred

  • Deep understanding of digital banking, cash management, payments, web and mobile technologies, and emerging capabilities including AI-enabled client experiences.


  • Strong knowledge of the retail banking, wealth management, fintech, and digital payments competitive landscape.


  • Proven ability to define product vision, shape strategy, and translate business objectives into prioritized roadmaps and measurable outcomes.


  • Executive-level communication skills, with the ability to present complex topics clearly, influence senior stakeholders, and drive decision-making across a matrixed organization.


  • Excellent relationship-building and stakeholder management capabilities across Technology, Design, Operations, Legal, Risk, Compliance, Fraud, and business teams.


  • Strong understanding of banking risk, controls, regulatory considerations, operational readiness, and secure digital delivery.


  • Demonstrated ability to lead large-scale, cross-functional initiatives in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities and complex dependencies.


  • Strategic thinker with the ability to evaluate alternatives, make tradeoffs, resolve ambiguity, and align execution to organizational priorities.


  • Sharp focus on client experience, usability, accessibility, and design quality.


  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to use data, market insights, client feedback, and performance metrics to inform product decisions.


  • Technical fluency and SDLC understanding sufficient to partner effectively with engineering teams and guide implementation decisions.

  • Ability to mentor, influence, and elevate product practices across teams while fostering a collaborative and accountable culture.


Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $150,000 and $250,000 per year at

the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
