Summary

This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.

About the Position: Serves as a Digital Forensic Analyst responsible for applying the full range of analytical knowledge, skills, and abilities in the forensic identification, examination, analysis, and reporting of data for a joint military, civilian and contractor workforce.

Help

  • Assist as part of a forensics exploitation, interrogation, and analysis team.
  • Conduct techniques and procedures in order to store, maintain, handle, and secure data.
  • Provide technical operational support to governmental agencies involved in forensic applications.
  • Execute specialized digital forensics techniques and procedures that require the use of unique technical equipment and software.

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret/SCI Security Clearance based on a favorable Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI).
  • Required to obtain and maintain a Digital forensic certification within 24 months of employment.
  • In accordance with Change 3 to AR 600-85, Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program, employee must successfully pass a urinalysis screening for illegal drug use prior to appointment and periodically thereafter.
  • This position may require Temporary Duty (TDY) 30 days or less travel to various locations approximately 20% of the time.
  • Incumbent may be subjected to the viewing of disturbing images and may be required to submit to a psychological evaluation.
  • Mandatory training is required which must be successfully completed and other training may occur as necessary for success in the position.
  • Must be willing to complete a polygraph.
  • This position is Deployable and is expected to travel OCONUS on a regular, rotating basis and/or on short notice. A physical is REQUIRED as a condition of employment prior to EOD and as needed, thereafter.
  • Immunizations are required for the deployed location.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes conducting forensics on digital media devices; utilizing investigative techniques to recover data; and maintaining integrity of submitted evidence. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).
