Job DescriptionThe Digital Hardware Engineer III is responsible for the design, development, integration, and verification of high-reliability digital electronics for aerospace and defense applications. This role independently executes complex hardware designs while collaborating with FPGA, firmware, software, systems, and manufacturing teams to deliver products that meet performance, reliability, and schedule objectives.
Responsibilities- Develop hardware designs for Space grade and High Reliability modules. This includes component selection, schematic capture, creation of design constraints and oversight of the layout process.
- Perform component trade studies and part selection.
- Develop interface requirements.
- Identify and resolve hardware issues during development and post-production.
- Work with software teams, firmware teams, manufacturing teams, and other engineers to integrate hardware and software solutions.
- Create detailed documentation for designs, testing procedures, and other relevant information.
- Optimize designs for performance, reliability, and cost.
- Provide technical guidance to Junior Engineers.
- Participate in peer design reviews
QualificationsExperience:
- Education: Electrical (Bachelor's degree) or Computer Engineering (Bachelor's degree). Or nine (9) years of experience may be considered in leu of a Bachelor's Degree.
- Experience:
- Minimum five (5) years of experience in a specialized functional discipline. Or three (3) years of experience may be considered w/ a Master's Degree.
- Preferred Qualifications:
- Design experience with ARM or Intel based microprocessors.
- Design with AMD And/Or Lattice FPGA's
- Proficiency in schematic capture with Siemens DXDesigner or Altium Designer
- Experience with the design, constraint and integration of high-speed interfaces. (e.g., PCIe Gen 3/4, 10 GbE, 40 GbE, 100 GbE, DDR4).
- High current/low voltage switching power supply experience
- Experience collaborating with embedded software and firmware engineers to ensure seamless product verification and successful integration of hardware with FPGA and software functionality.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills to effectively work with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders.
- Experience with Hyperlynx SI/PI
- Experience in Rad hard or high reliability design
