Job Summary:

The School of Dental Medicine is seeking a full-time Diagnostic Procedures Technology Supervisor to support the teaching and patient care missions of the Radiology unit within the Department of Diagnostic Sciences & Surgical Dentistry. This position combines formal supervision of five Diagnostic Procedures Technology employees with hands-on dental imaging, clinical and didactic instruction, and oversight of daily Oral Radiology operations.

The supervisor works closely with the Oral and Maxillofacial Radiologist and supports DDS, ISP, graduate students, residents, faculty, staff, and patients across multiple clinics. The role performs and teaches intraoral, panoramic, and Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT) imaging; evaluates image quality; coordinates staffing and clinic coverage; maintains radiation safety and quality-assurance records; troubleshoots imaging systems and equipment; and supports scheduling, data management, research imaging, and supply operations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Directly supervise five Diagnostic Procedures Technology employees, including assigning work, scheduling coverage, monitoring time and leave, completing performance reviews, and participating in hiring.
• Teach DDS, ISP, graduate students, residents, faculty, and staff the proper use of dental radiology techniques, equipment, and software.
• Perform and support intraoral, panoramic, and CBCT imaging, adapting patient positioning and imaging protocols to meet diagnostic needs while minimizing radiation exposure.
• Evaluate radiographic image quality and determine when retakes are necessary under the guidance of the Oral and Maxillofacial Radiologist.
• Coordinate radiation quality assurance, certification records, film-badge monitoring, equipment testing, infection control, and compliance with applicable safety requirements.
• Manage radiology scheduling, patient records, billing and reporting activities, and the import, export, storage, and release of radiographic images.
• Oversee radiology supplies and equipment and support faculty research through specialized image acquisition and research data management.

Work Location:

Onsite - this role is expected to work onsite and is located in Aurora, Colorado.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Associate's degree from an accredited institution in a field of study related to the work assignment.
  
  • Substitution: Additional appropriate experience will substitute for the degree requirement on a year-for-year basis.
• Current, valid Colorado State license or certification related to the work assigned to the position.
• Three (3) years of professional experience in an occupational field related to the work assigned to the position.

Colorado law requires that candidates for state government jobs be residents of Colorado at the time of application.

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Previous experience working in an academic dental environment, particularly in a radiology department, with a track record of successful student engagement and mentorship.
• Experience assisting with radiology-related research, including data management and the acquisition of specialized imaging for research purposes.
• A valid license to practice as a Dental Assistant in the state of Colorado.

Conditions of Employment:

• Work onsite in Aurora, Colorado, Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
• Maintain the current, valid Colorado State license or certification required for the work assignment.

• Work in an environment involving ionizing radiation, toxic or caustic chemicals, biological or infectious materials, and blood or bodily fluids.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• In-depth understanding of dental radiology principles, including image acquisition techniques, radiation safety protocols, and radiographic anatomy.
• Ability to educate and mentor students, residents, and faculty in radiographic techniques and best practices and adapt teaching methods to various learning styles.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills for instruction, collaboration, and documentation of procedures and policies.
• Proficiency in performing and teaching intraoral, panoramic, and Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT) imaging.

Anticipated Pay Range:

The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as $6,954-$- $8,345 / month

This position is eligible for overtime compensation.
