Job Description

As a key member of our IT Infrastructure Team, you will be responsible for the design, implementation, support, documentation and troubleshooting of large scale infrastructure on public cloud technologies. In this mission critical role you duties will include the following:
  • Participate in the design and implementation phases for new and existing products, with a focus on providing the technical knowledge of infrastructure requirements.
  • Help Engineering and Research teams implement new technologies in development for future production deployment.
  • Working with Engineering and IT teams to analyze and design infrastructure with 99.99% up-time with server virtualization, clustering, replicating databases, disaster recovery, and geographic redundancy.
  • Actively monitor and administer the applications and hosting environment to increase efficiency, improve reliability, and minimize downtimes.
  • Triage and provide technical solutions to environment related issues encountered by new and existing applications in the environment.
  • Support Engineering team with change requests, uptime, performance, build and deployment related issues, and access.
  • Measurement, optimization, and tuning of system performance and ensuring that systems will run reliably and are highly available in a 24/7 production environment.
  • Manage and control the continuous release promotion cycle (through automation) including the following environments: development, QA, Performance, Pre-prod and production.
  • Collaborate with Engineering team on the development of deployment scripts on a lifecycle automation platform for the orchestration, integration and deployment of new software releases.
  • Provide technical guidance, knowledge transfer and mentorship to peers as required.
  • Able to work independently with flexible hours when and as needed.


Qualifications
  • 3-5 years as UNIX/Linux system administrator supporting enterprise computing platforms.
  • Proven experience supporting multi-tenant applications on public cloud.
  • Possess a solid understanding of operating systems, networking and security concepts.
  • 2+ years experience running production systems on Amazon Web Services. This includes but it is not limited to EC2, ELB, VPC, RDS, S3, CloudFront, and CloudTrail. Some experience with Azure, SoftLayer is a plus.
  • Experience with revision control source, continuous integration and deployment tools.
  • Experience with automation/configuration management using Ansible (preferred), Puppet, or Chef.
  • Very strong scripting skills with with Python and Bash.
  • Understanding of open source software (e.g.: CoreOS, Docker, Postgres, HA Proxy).
  • Experience with monitoring/reporting technologies (e.g.: Nagios, PagerDuty, New Relic).
  • Experience administering Splunk environments (e.g.: onboarding new data feeds, creating dashboards/reports, advanced search, etc.).
  • BS or comparable work experience; AWS certifications is a plus.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast paced environment with rapidly changing priorities
