Position SummaryVital Infrastructure Properties REIT is seeking a Development Manager to help advance a growing portfolio of healthcare real estate developments across Canada. This role is responsible for driving key workstreams across due diligence, municipal approvals, consultant coordination, and project execution, while working closely with senior development leadership to deliver complex projects with discipline, clarity, and momentum.
The ideal candidate is a strong development professional with sound judgment, development experience, excellent communicator, creative thinker, and team player with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a lean, high-performing environment. This position offers meaningful ownership, direct exposure to senior decision-makers, and a clear path for growth within the development function.
Key ResponsibilitiesYour job responsibilities will include, but will not be limited to the following
- Lead and coordinate critical development workstreams across healthcare real estate projects, from early due diligence and entitlement through to building permit issuance.
- Manage municipal approvals, consultant teams, budgets, schedules, deliverables, and project reporting to support efficient, well-governed project advancement.
- Provide clear analysis, recommendations, and decision support to senior leadership, while proactively identifying risks, resolving issues, and maintaining project momentum.
- Partner and communicate effectively with internal teams, external consultants, municipalities, and healthcare stakeholders to align development outcomes with operational and strategic objectives.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience- 5+ years of relevant experience in land development, real estate development, planning, engineering, or a related field.
- Demonstrated experience with municipal planning and approvals processes, with Ontario expertise required and broader Canadian exposure considered an asset.
- Strong understanding of project metrics, and development proforma analysis
- Experience supporting or delivering commercial, institutional, healthcare, office, or retail development projects.
- Strong project management, organizational, and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and stakeholders effectively.
- Working knowledge of development budgets, cost planning, feasibility analysis, and core project management tools, including MS Project, Excel, and Outlook.
- Professional presence, sound judgment, and a proactive, detail-oriented approach, supported by strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Post-secondary education in Planning, Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, Business, Real Estate, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
