Full Job Description
Yamaha is seeking to fill a Design Tech System Specialist for our facility in Marietta, GA. The Design Technology Systems Specialist will perform a variety of duties related to the support of engineering development teams and the hardware, software and systems being utilized. In concert with Marine development management, he / she is responsible for understanding the development tool needs (CAE, SaaS, CAM, Engineering Drawing and Revision support, etc.) of engineering teams to appropriately manage and support the needs of all engineering teams at the Marine Innovation Center (MIC).This position will have a dotted line relationship with the Marine Division Manager, Engineering Services.

What you'll be doing:
  • Manage and maintain all CAE & PLM software licenses & maintenance packages to ensure timely payment and legal compliance for MIC and partnering engineering teams (Bennett, Yamaha Marine Rotational Molders (Kracor), YPPI). Perform an annual evaluation of license options (SaaS, perpetual, network license, cloud, token, etc.) for all CAE tools. Establish annual budgets and monitor monthly spending for all CAE tools. (NX, SolidWorks, Teamcenter, Star CCM, Rhino/Orea, Nastran FEA, Matlab/Simulink, Gitlab, etc.).
  • Support/ Coordination of CAD/CAE system wide version customization, upgrades, trouble shooting of utilization issues, and specification of development technology infrastructure to minimize impact on design teams. Ensure that all legacy Yamaha design documentation is accessible as CAE tools are updated.
  • Support the financial justification and approval process for the acquisition of new or additional CAE tools and the upgrade of existing tools. Maintain management reporting for the cost and utilization of CAE tools. Monitor and communicate software industry trends for licensing costs.
  • MIC representative to work with Yamaha Marine design and manufacturing sites to create a technology roadmap that will ensure a smooth transition from older CAE tools to a suite of new tools (Likely Siemens products). Support the development processes for the clean extraction of design/development data from our CAE tools to feed the MRP/ERP systems that drive manufacturing, service, and business systems.
  • Support of 2D/3D plotters, printers and other common MIC digital equipment.
  • Communication with other Yamaha companies and divisions regarding joint software/hardware related issues (YMMC, YJBM, YMC, Bennett, Kracor, YPPI).
  • Engineering drawing and revision release support. Support the release of all engineering design documentation (BOMs, Drawings, Models, software, etc) through Siemens Teamcenter in conjunction with the appropriate stages of the Yamaha APQP / QMS process.
  • Engineering Change Control administrator for all Yamaha MIC engineering documentation. The change control administrator will utilize Siemens Teamcenter to coordinate documentation changes and approvals with other Quality Assurance, Yamaha factories, and other Yamaha design centers.
  • Other duties as assigned.

What you need to be successful:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent.
  • 5+ years of experience
  • Teamcenter Administration experience or other PLM or equivalent
  • Siemens NX usage / Administration experience or equivalent

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • 3D printer administration experience or equivalent
  • Strong proficiency in MS Office (i.e., PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.)
  • Strong customer service aptitude
  • Ability to travel with little notice. Estimated travel is less than 10%.
  • Knowledge of automotive related industry
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously to achieve results.
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills in order to interact with users at all levels throughout the organization.
  • Passion for the outdoors, boating and fishing, boating and marine experience is a plus.
