Job DescriptionAECOM Calgary is seeking a Design Quality Manager to support the Alternative Delivery projects in Canada.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:• Under general direction, provides technical supervision for quality-related projects or major phases of significant quality initiatives, coordinating efforts of technical support staff as needed.
• Applies broad expertise to deliver key quality assignments effectively and efficiently.
• Leads quality assurance and quality control functions within assigned program(s) or project area(s), ensuring design, procurement, and installation meet both client and AECOM quality standards.
• Provides leadership in the development and implementation of quality systems, procedures, proposals, and related initiatives.
• Applies advanced quality assurance/control theories and research methodologies to solve complex, cutting-edge technical challenges.
• Assesses and plans technical approaches to problems, organizing resources to develop effective solutions to complex quality issues.
• Reviews project processes and assesses outcomes to ensure quality objectives are met.
• Evaluates supplier capabilities and performance in delivering required products and services.
• Makes frequent decisions based on sound engineering principles and professional judgment.
• Conducts investigations and quality testing of moderate to high complexity.
• Offers technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers, technicians, and inspectors.
• Maintains the revisions to the project specific Design Quality Management Plan and relevant training.
QualificationsMinimum Requirements:- Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline (Civil, Mechanical, Electrical engineering) plus 6+ years of experience managing quality for infrastructure design projects or technical diploma plus 8+ years of relevant experience.
Preferred Qualifications:- Experience managing design quality assurance/quality control on large infrastructure or transit design projects (e.g., LRT, rail, or major roadway).
- Familiarity with relevant codes, standards, and regulatory requirements (e.g., ISO 9001, CSA, or applicable provincial transportation authority standards).
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation in Canada, or eligibility to obtain it.
- Certified ISO 9001 Lead Auditor.
- Strong understanding of multidisciplinary design coordination and quality workflows.
- Experience working with contractors, consultants, and government stakeholders in a quality leadership role.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to influence design teams toward quality-driven results.
- Ability to provide ongoing design quality training to design teams.
- Proficiency in quality management systems and software tools used for tracking NCRs, audits, and corrective actions.
