  • Monitor quality and progress of individual disciplines, ensuring timelines and standards are met.
  • Collaborate with Project Managers to address issues related to staffing and project performance.
  • Establish design standards and recommend improvements for project procedures.

Job Description:

Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Design Manager - Nuclear Facilities to join our team! In this role you will get to lead a multidisciplinary design team to design the next generation of nuclear fuel production and waste processing facilities.

What You'll Be Doing:
  • Applying your knowledge of nuclear facility regulations and engineering industry practices to lead a team on engineers, architects, designers, BIM specialist, and technical support staff in the design of new nuclear facilities.
  • Generating discipline staffing budget estimates and staffing assignment schedules.
  • Maintaining appropriate staffing levels, including temporary personnel, as needed.
  • Generating staff forecasting reports.
  • Managing all engineering and design efforts for all disciplines required to complete assigned projects.
  • Coordinating all discipline staffing requirements for assigned projects.
  • Monitoring the quality and progress of each discipline on assigned projects, ensuring that production requirements are satisfied.
  • Working closely with Project Manager(s) to resolve any existing or forecasted problems related to discipline staffing, quality of work, schedule performance, or productivity.
  • Establishing design standards and procedures for as needed for assigned projects and recommends improvements to department procedures.
  • Ensuring that new employees on assigned projects receive orientation on project-specific policies and procedures.
  • Supporting pre-contract and business development efforts as required, serving as technical consultant.
  • Ensuring performance within budgets authorized for the discipline.
  • Actively participating in and promoting quality improvement.
  • Performing other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.

What Required Skills You'll Bring:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering (ABET accredited), Nuclear or Chemical Engineering preferred
  • 15+ years of work experience in production of PE sealed Issued for Construction design documents (drawings, calculations, specifications, data sheets, etc.)
  • 8+ years progressive supervisory/managerial experience in design management, including management of multidisciplinary design teams of 50+ individuals producing PE sealed Issued for Construction design documents
  • Prior design management experience on projects with total installed costs over $100M USD
  • Thorough knowledge of DoE and NRC nuclear regulations and regulatory approvals process and prior experience successfully obtaining an NRC Facility Operating License or DOE Safety Basis Approval
  • Professional Engineer registration

Salary Range: $134,100.00 - $241,400.00
