OUR OPENING
We're growing and looking to add a Design Manager to our Journey Construction team. This is a new role and a rare opportunity to build an in-house design capability from the ground up. You'll be both a hands-on practitioner and a leader, producing design and construction documents yourself while managing the design process across in-house staff, outside consultants, and our operations teams. This position will primarily support healthcare, renovation, and commercial/industrial projects.

WHAT WOULD YOU DO AS A DESIGN MANAGER?
  • Lead in-house design on design-build and design-assist projects from concept through construction documents
  • Produce plans, elevations, sections, details, and specifications, and present design options with their cost, schedule, and constructability impacts
  • Determine the right balance of in-house design and outside consultants, and manage consultant agreements
  • Turn concept-level drawings into coordinated, constructable documents that subcontractors and vendors can price and build from
  • Support renovation work with existing-conditions documentation, phasing plans, and tie-in details
  • Partner with Project Managers, Superintendents, and Preconstruction to align design with budgets and schedules and reduce rework and RFIs
  • Serve as a key client contact on design matters and support business development
  • Establish Journey's design and documentation standards, templates, and detail libraries
