Job Description:

As a Design Engineering Specialist – Motors & Generators concentrating on the rotating electrics design in the Medium Voltage Rotating Components team, you will be joining a rapid growing innovative team on the cutting edge of electrification. You will have the unique opportunity to direct and contribute to the concept, development, and design of rotating electrical components primarily consisting of motors and generators.

The Medium Voltage Rotating Components team is responsible for end-to-end design and development of components for multiple Caterpillar applications. You will have the opportunity to strengthening your simulation skills, analytical skills, and mastery of mechanical and electrical engineering concepts associated with medium voltage motors and generators.

You will be responsible for the execution and coordination of design efforts necessary for the successful design and development. You will have the opportunity to lead and work with a highly experienced team of engineers, having significant experience across Caterpillar electric drive applications.

What you will do:

  • Design owner of products

  • Develop design concepts through a process of optimization

  • Strong collaboration with suppliers through potential Development Agreements

  • Quality leadership through PPAP and overall APQP rigor

  • Current Product Improvements through feedback from the field

  • Collaborate with machine businesses NPI & NTI product programs and their respected design groups

  • Supply chain ownership of materials and cost

  • Identify and work with other Caterpillar subject matter experts on aspects of the design


What you will have:

Degree Requirement
Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Engineering or related discipline (Mechanical or Electrical preferred)

Product Development Life Cycle - MFG: Extensive experience and knowledge of the methodology and associated phases, activities and deliverables of product development life cycle in manufacturing organizations; ability to bring new or enhanced products to the marketplace.

Decision Making and Critical Thinking: Extensive experience and knowledge of the design for manufacturing process and methodologies in evaluating.

Effective Communications: Extensive experience and understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.

Project Management: Extensive experience and knowledge of effective project management strategies and tactics; ability to plan, organize, monitor, and control projects, ensuring efficient utilization of technical and administrative resources to achieve project objectives.


Troubleshooting Technical Problems: Extensive experience and knowledge of troubleshooting approaches, tools and techniques; ability to anticipate, detect and resolve technical problems in a manufacturing or product development environment.

Additional Information:

  • This role will be located in Mossville, IL and offers domestic relocation
  • This role does not offer visa sponsorship
  • This role will require 10% or less travel
  • This position requires working onsite five days a week.

 

Summary Pay Range:

$128,470.00 - $192,710.00

Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
