Full Job Description
Role Overview

We are seeking a Mechanical Designer who will be responsible for the detailed modeling of components from a multidisciplinary team of engineers, integration of components into assemblies, and interfacing with manufacturing. You will also perform checking duties related to assembly and component drawings, part structures (BOMs) and item specific information for accuracy of design intent and application specific information.

Arbor's team of world-class engineers and scientists are developing a scalable, low-cost approach to Bioenergy with Carbon Capture and Storage (BECCS) based on modern rocket engine technology. BECCS is a carbon dioxide removal (CDR) approach that uses biomass to produce energy and remove CO2 from the atmosphere and store it permanently underground, while ensuring food security, rural livelihoods, and biodiversity are not affected. Our modular technology leverages the power density of supercritical CO2 to enable compact gasification, oxy-combustion, and high-pressure turbo-expansion to convert abundant waste biomass into clean electricity, water, and high-purity CO2, capturing and sequestering all emissions from the process. Our team brings together a passion for science, technology, and global stewardship to make low-cost, high-quality carbon removal and baseload power a reality.
Responsibilities
  • Design all types of turbomachinery components, including sizing and creation of 3D models and associated 2D drawings
  • Create Item and Part Structure (BOM) information within ERP system
  • Develop and maintain 3D model and 2D drawing database within Product Data Management (PDM) system
  • Perform checking duties on assembly and component level drawings
  • Update existing drawings to current/best manufacturing processes
  • Work closely with manufacturing personnel and engineering to ensure design requirements are met and the best manufacturing processes are used
  • Participate in and contribute to process improvement and design for manufacturability activities
  • Support manufacturing personnel with evaluations of deviated components, corrective action investigations and other quality related activities
