Summary:

This role will support engineering design and development activities.

Responsibilities:
  • Lead and support the engineering activities for large scale product development programs by investigating feasibility, performing design using 3-D modeling software, conduct layout review and 2D drawing creation.
  • Analyze and resolve complex problems independently or with minimal guidance.
  • Create part specification requirements and BOM.
  • Negotiate with surrounding component business units and suppliers.
  • Perform cost analysis, strength calculations and material selection.
  • Use best practices and knowledge of internal or external business issues to improve product and/or processes.
  • Search new ways to increase overall efficiency, utilize up-to-date technology, and reduce design and parts costs
  • Travel to client sites required.

Qualifications:
  • Minimum Bachelor's degree in Engineering and 5+ years relevant industry experience or Bachelor's degree and 7+ years relevant industry experience or Associate's degree and 8+ years relevant industry experience.
  • Education with the following specialties preferred: Mechanical, Mechanical Technology, Aerospace, Automotive, Manufacturing.
  • Knowledge and working experience with DFMEA (Design Failure Mode and Effect Analysis) and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing), DFM (Design for Manufacturing)
  • Experience using both Catia V5/V6 to create 3-D models, particularly GSD/surfacing and sheet-metal design, with experience developing components from styling data through design feasibility & release and 2D drawings is required.
  • Experience designing across multiple materials and manufacturing processes, including thermoformed plastics, cut/bent and stamped sheet metal, aluminum components, composites, 3D printing, and casting, with a good understanding of DFM principles, Tooling.
  • Product-development experience preferred, concepts generation, and work effectively with internal cross-functional teams.
  • Exposure to CAE preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in MS office.
