The Opportunity

Ulteig is currently seeking talented and motivated Design Engineer - Studies engineering candidates to support power system studies and modeling within the renewable energy markets.

What You'll Do

We are hiring two Design Engineers at the same level, each aligned to a specialized focus area within power system studies. Together, these roles will support a broad portfolio of wind, solar, and battery energy storage (BESS) projects in a fast-paced environment.

Track 1: Protection & Planning Studies
  • Perform system studies including short circuit, arc flash, load flow, and harmonics analysis
  • Utilize tools such as PSSE, ETAP, EasyPower, and related software
  • Support system planning and protection analysis to ensure safe and reliable system design

Track 2: Transient & Insulation Studies
  • Perform advanced studies including transient overvoltage (TOV), transient recovery voltage (TRV), insulation coordination, and harmonics analysis
  • Utilize tools such as PSCAD, ETAP, EasyPower, and related software
  • Support detailed transient and insulation performance analysis for renewable interconnections

Selected candidates will be required to:
  • Deliver high-quality technical support to generator owners across wind, solar, and BESS projects
  • Work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative environment with a high degree of ownership
  • Leverage Python scripting and automation to improve efficiency, consistency, and scalability of study processes


What We Expect from You
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering required, ABET accredited program, or equivalent required
  • A minimum of 2 years of working experience, with at least 1 years of experience directly related to power systems
  • Experience in EasyPower, ETAP, PSSE, and/or PSCAD is preferred
  • Experience with programming in Python is preferred
  • Independently completes assigned tasks required and actively manages individual workload
  • EIT status or working towards EIT status
  • Must be a self-starter and willing to identify improvements and implement them, utilizing support from others
  • Must be comfortable asking questions to team when learning new skills
  • Must be analytical, self-motivated, and possess the ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a positive, enthusiastic attitude
  • Excellent presentation and verbal/written communications skills
  • Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills with the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, management, clients and external agencies
  • Must have authorization to work permanently in the U.S.

Additional Opportunity Details:
Target Base Compensation Range for this role is $93,800-$126,900*
