Description

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Design custom systems based on customer specifications according to department and company standards, using computer assisted design/drafting (Onshape CAD) software.
  • Research and analyze feasibility data: evaluate products, parts, or processes for cost, efficiency and reliability, considering performance, safety, patents, goals and regulatory requirements.
  • Create detail and assembly drawings of components and systems; check dimensions of part, materials to be used, relation of one part to another, and relation of various parts to whole structure or project.
  • Work to ensure that design drawings and related details are completed within timeframes required.
  • Follow quality management system requirements for document and process control.
  • Build Bills of Material in ERP system at either quote level or order level.
  • Make changes and corrections in mechanical design throughout the life of a project or product; communicate with all departments regarding new and revised prints and BOMs.
  • Communicate with customers and suppliers regarding details of parts, assemblies, systems, scopes of work, and requirements.
  • Assist Sales with communicating technical details of products and systems.
  • Provide occasional technical and / or troubleshooting support to customers.


Requirements

Knowledge, Education and Experience Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree (BS) in Engineering or related field and 3 to 5 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • High skill level in 3D CAD software. Skilled in PC usage and associated software including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint. Experience in ERP/MRP Systems. Ability to learn new software to complement the presentation of new CAD designs. Onshape or Solidworks experience a plus.
  • Solid understanding of drafting techniques, commonly used concepts, practices and procedures in engineering and engineering terminology.
  • Some knowledge of reciprocating compressors, engines and related machinery; understanding of fluid handling/hydraulic systems.
  • Working knowledge of design techniques and principles involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints and drawings.
  • Basic understanding of common equipment manufacturing practices such as machining, grinding, fabrication, welding, coating, and assembly.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry, and to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.
