Full Job Description
Your Opportunity: Engineer Innovative Casting Solutions

As a Design Engineer, you will play a key role in developing quality ductile iron castings using computer-aided design and simulation software. You will also provide crucial technical support to customers, ensuring efficient and manufacturable designs. This role involves designing, developing, implementing, and analyzing technical foundry products and performing engineering design evaluations for various castings. The starting salary range for this position is $80,000 to $87,000.

What You Will Do:
  • Design and Develop: You will design new tooling, make changes to existing tooling, perform gating and risering design, and develop tooling CAD designs using SolidWorks.
  • Simulate and Optimize: You will perform casting simulations using MAGMA.
  • Support and Collaborate: You'll assist with the quoting process, coordinate new job startups, and lead yield improvement initiatives. You will also authorize sample and pre-production approvals.
  • Provide Technical Expertise: You'll provide technical support to account managers and customers, assist customers in designing new products, and improve existing products.
  • Drive Improvement: You'll participate in cost-reduction and energy-saving projects, coordinate problem-solving analyses, and maintain accurate record-keeping.
  • Test and Validate: You'll prove out designs through testing, both destructive and non-destructive.
  • Stay Ahead of Technology: You'll identify emerging technology to be integrated within the company.
  • Contribute to Efficiency: You'll offer suggestions for improvements of operations or processes.
  • Engage with Customers: You'll travel to customer locations to assist with design, resolve quality issues, and deliver presentations.
  • Work as a Team: You'll collaborate with team members to maximize productivity and efficiency.
  • Prioritize Safety: You'll perform physical and cognitive demands promoting safety in the work environment.
  • Maintain Attendance: You'll attend work during regularly scheduled hours and outside regular hours as necessary.
  • Communicate Effectively: You'll communicate effectively and efficiently with other employees, supervisors, individuals from other organizations, and customers.

What You Need to Succeed:
  • Education: Associate's Degree in Engineering or a related field. A Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field is preferred.
  • Experience: Experience in manufacturing or a related field and 2+ years of experience in CAD modeling, reading blueprints, and designing for manufacturability. Experience in foundry processes, continuous improvement, and tooling design is preferred. Experience using Casting Simulation Software and CNC Machining is also preferred.
