Position at Sumitomo Electric Wiring Systems, Inc.

SEWS - Farmington Hills, Michigan Office. Although located at SEWS - Farmington Hills Office, this is a Hybrid position, which combines both in office and off-site work. Associates are required to work at least four days in the office each week, but also have the flexibility to work off-site.

JOB TITLE: Design Engineer IV

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. This is a hybrid work position following company policy (currently requiring at least four days in the office and one day working from home). Upon manager's discretion, skill-development needs, project status, and other factors, employees may be required to work in the office all five days.
  2. Lead, create, maintain and take ownership of fuse box 3D designs, design changes, and drawings using Unigraphics (NX).
  3. Interpret, maintain, and develop schematics and bills of materials (BOMs), and review them before release.
  4. Create and maintain project timelines and due dates.
  5. Support and conduct internal meetings and design reviews.
  6. Interface with customers and supplier(s) regarding meetings, design reviews, build support, FOT orders, etc.
  7. Develop DFMEA, DVP&R, and 5P documents.
  8. Interpret and apply GD&T to SEWS drawings, and review them before release.
  9. Travel may be required (>10%).
  10. Work the team on Continuous Improvement Activities.

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering.
  • Experience in fuse box design and engineering.
  • Experience with Unigraphics (NX) CAD is required.
  • 7+ years of engineering experience is a plus.
  • Experience with Stellantis, Ford, Rivian, or GM is a plus.
