Full Job Description
Position Purpose:

Plays a pivotal role in leading the design, development, and implementation of pneumatic/electronic control systems and sensing technology for the Commercial Vehicle market. This position will work closely with project teams to deliver innovative, robust, and cost effective product design solutions.

Essential Functions:
  1. Develop product designs via analytical methods to assure product durability and reliability prior to engineering release. Customer requirements should be considered and implemented into this process.
  2. Manage development projects and use techniques to maintain/achieve both cost and performance targets as defined by the organization.
  3. Prepare and/or create specialized technical documentation as required both internally and externally. Examples would include: Blueprints, specifications, layout drawings, test reports, and Customer installation instructions, etc.
  4. Act as a coach and mentor to less experienced engineers on as needed basis. This support could be related to materials, testing methods, product performance improvements, etc.
  5. Support Applications efforts with the customer base as needed.
  6. Support efforts related to the [H] development/validation process as well as daily manufacturing activities. Including: PPAP's, product and process deviations, DFMEA's, PFMEA's, etc.
  7. Design/Support testing procedures and methods as needed. This can include both internal testing performed in the laboratory as well as Field Evaluation Units.
  8. Work closely with Manufacturing and Purchasing departments, and with outside suppliers to obtain the best overall solutions to design problems.

Education and Training
  • Master's Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering is required. Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, along with applicable job experience, could be considered.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • 7+ years' work experience.
  • Strong mechanical and/or electrical design/analysis skills.
  • Good working knowledge of heavy-duty vehicle pneumatic systems is a plus.
  • 7+ years' 3D CAD solid modeling experience, preferably PTC Creo.
  • Extensive knowledge of dimensioning and tolerancing practices. Additionally, good knowledge of materials and of manufacturing processes such as machining, casting, injection molding, etc. is preferred
  • Hands-on experience with tooling and fixture design is a plus.
  • Experience working with data acquisition using various types of sensing equipment is a plus.
  • Microsoft Office proficiency
  • AutoCAD experience is a plus

Physical Demands:
  • Some light lifting, mixture of standing and sitting.
  • Working on products in lab at workbench
  • Installation of products on Trailers (Support of FEU's)

  • Office and R&D lab environment
  • Some travel required (suppliers, customers, etc.)
