Job PurposeResponsible for battery design and engineering analyses on molten salt batteries. Analyses include conceptual and detailed design, trade studies, estimates, and calculations for energy storage and power conversion. Activities include battery design, prototype fabrication, technical data packages, product manufacturing instructions, test, and evaluation. The selected engineer will work with other members of the engineering department to create design solutions that meet customer requirements and company objectives. The selected engineer will also work with the Quality and Manufacturing functions to ensure products are delivered to the highest possible standards.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Designs components or major portions of a battery system to develop or improve products and facilitate manufacturability.
- Performs research, design, and development in such areas as mechanical, chemical, electrical, and other related engineering design functions.
- Applies research to the planning, design, development, and testing of battery products.
- Compiles and analyzes test data to develop battery design criteria for core temperature, structure, power, energy and material properties.
- Develops and deploys design criteria for selecting components and equipment to use. Utilizing computer-aided design equipment, develops basic data and makes preliminary layouts, sketches, and notes necessary to present design proposal.
