Full Job Description
About the role

We're looking for a Design Engineer to design the tools Atmosphere's customers run their businesses on: the TV interface that reaches over 150 million viewers a month, the app business owners use to run their devices, and the web app their teams use to manage them.

You'll work in a small pod alongside engineering, reporting to our Staff Design Engineer on the Product team. There are no hand-offs. You frame the problem, design the flows, build the high-fidelity UI, and open the pull request: production Vue and TypeScript in the same repo as the rest of engineering, reviewed to the same bar. Once it ships, you watch how it performs and iterate. We would rather you use AI code agents to get from idea to working software in a day than spend a week writing a spec for someone else to build.

This role is a true blend of design and engineering. Design is at its core: you decide what to build and how it should feel, rather than implementing someone else's spec. You're also responsible for the code you land. We want someone who owns both sides, not someone who designs and hands off, or who writes code without a point of view on the product.

This role is on-site in Austin, TX, and requires being in the office 4-5 days a week. When submitting your application, please be sure to included a portfolio or portfolio link. Profiles without portfolios will not be considered.

What you'll do

  • Own the design of individual features, from problem framing and user flows through high-fidelity UI.
  • Ship production Vue and TypeScript alongside engineering, and own the quality of what lands.
  • Build the components you design as real code in our design system.
  • Design and build the internal tools our CS and ops teams rely on, including the AI-enabled workflows those teams increasingly run on.
  • Talk directly with the people who use what you build, and turn what you learn into design decisions.
  • Prototype in code to explore ideas and show them to stakeholders.
  • Work within our design system and make it more detailed and consistent as you go.
  • Measure how your work performs after it ships, and iterate on it.
  • Use AI daily across research, design exploration, prototyping, and shipping.

Qualifications

  • 3-4 years designing and shipping software products.
  • A portfolio of shipped product work showing what you designed, what you built, and what it does today.
  • Strong visual and interaction craft: typography, hierarchy, layout, and color.
  • Fluency in Figma, and enough web development skill to build and ship your own work.
  • Code that has reached real users, whether you shipped it yourself or paired with engineers to get it there.
  • Daily, hands-on use of AI tools across design exploration, prototyping, and code (Claude, Cursor, v0, or similar).
  • Comfort working in a real codebase: reading code you did not write, using git, opening pull requests, and taking code review.
  • Comfort working from a design system and improving it rather than working around it.
  • Clear communication and a willingness to take feedback and iterate.
  • A bias toward simplicity in both design and code.

Nice to Haves:

  • Experience with Vue and TypeScript specifically.
  • Domain experience in streaming media or B2B SMB software.
  • Experience designing or developing 10-foot UI for TV, or for mobile (iOS, Android).
  • Experience as a founder or early employee at a startup.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Competitive salary
  • Company Equity
  • Company 401(k) with employer matching
  • Competitive insurance plans
  • Flexible Time Off Policy
