Full Job Description
Overview

We are seeking a full-time Desense Engineer at Garmin's U.S. headquarters in the Greater Kansas City area. This is a full time Electrical Engineer with particular focus on Desense (noise, jamming) mitigation. We support multiple wireless communication protocols, such as: Cellular, WiFi, Bluetooth (BT), NFC, GNSS etc. in our products. As a Desense Engineer at Garmin, you will contribute to the architecture and product level design integration of next generation wireless radio solutions in all Garmin products.

Essential Functions
  • Lead Multi-Radio Coexistence through RF Desense (noise, jamming) optimization
  • Identify noise source (aggressor(s)) and propose remedy
  • Create appropriate and necessary software tool to integrate within wireless radio to check RF signals to root cause noise in the overall system
  • Design Cellular RF hardware board as impedance matching, PCB layout review, bring up prototypes and Coexistence validation with LTE/BT/WiFi/GNSS/NFC
  • Define RF Hardware requirement, design and implement in factory test
  • Work with RF module/components suppliers and cross-functional teams to optimize RF performance

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering AND a minimum of 5 years of industry experience in RF circuits design (cellular (LTE, UMTS), WiFi, BT, GNSS) OR Master's/Doctoral Degree in Electrical Engineering with focus on RF/antennas and electromagnetics AND a minimum of 3 years of industry experience in RF circuits design (cellular (LTE, UMTS), WiFi, BT, GNSS)
  • Excellent academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.0 as a general rule)
  • Demonstrated strong and effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills to rally support from peers

Desired Qualifications
  • Broad expertise with Multi-Radio Coexistence
  • Successful track record of working closely with Antenna Engineers, Electrical Engineers, Mechanical Engineers and Firmware teams
  • Extensive circuit design experience for consumer or aviation products
  • Experience with numerical simulation driven design workflows
  • RF design experience such as Filters, LNAs, PAs, Receivers, etc.
  • Extensive experience utilizing RF test equipment such as Spectrum Analyzers, Vector Network Analyzers, Signal Generators, etc.
  • Knowledge and experience in designing for environmental constraints (temp, humidity, and vibration), regulatory compliance and product debug (EMC/EMI, ESD, transients, etc)
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills to galvanize cross functional teams
