Full Job Description
Derivatives Attorney
New York, NY (hybrid)

Mizuho is seeking an experienced negotiator to join our derivatives team to support the Mizuho Americas Markets Business across Rates, FX, Credit, Latam and Risk Solutions Group, predominantly for corporate and private equity clients. 

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide legal coverage for the fixed income sales and trading business, including macro and corporate businesses.
  • Draft, negotiate and execute master and collateral agreements and ancillary documentation (IM and VM CSAs, FIA CDEAs, FX MCAs, NDAs) and actively and independently manage negotiations from inception to completion.
  • Engage directly with client and partner closely with internal teams and stakeholders such as credit risk, sales and trading business, collateral management, treasury, tax, compliance and client onboarding.
  • Review and advise on Dodd Frank Protocols, Uncleared Margin Self-Disclosure Letter, Resolution Stay Protocols and Delegated Reporting Agreements.
  • Stay current on industry initiatives and regulatory updates, ownership of capacity and authority checks and conduct due diligence in respect of these negotiations, including netting and collateral enforceability.

  • Familiarity with other industry master agreement documentation (MRA, GMRA, GMSLA, MSFTA).

  • Familiarity with industry legal opinions.
  • Latin America experience and/or Spanish language skills are a plus.

The expected base salary ranges from $160,000.00 - $200,000.00. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and, where applicable, certifications and licenses obtained. Market and organizational factors are also considered. In addition to salary and a generous employee benefits package, successful candidates are eligible to receive a discretionary bonus.
