Overview

We are seeking a motivated Deputy Program Manager to contribute to our mission supporting our work atLos Alamos National Lab in Los Alamos, NM.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The main duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Manages projects from proposal development through execution and closeout.
  • Establishes and maintains effective relationships with all stakeholders, internal and external.
  • Participates in strategic and tactical program planning, execution, and prioritization activities.
  • Identifies and implements improvements to increase operational efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Communicates with clients regularly and effectively, understands their needs, and is responsive.
  • Develops proposals in alignment with statement of work requirements to enable successful delivery of commitments.
  • Manages program and project resources to foster a high performing team.
  • Monitors projects to ensure work is performed within budget and on schedule.
  • Supports development, implementation, and improvement of processes.
  • Develops and implements tools that support effective and efficient program management.
  • Manages change control, risks, issues, and opportunities.
  • Partners with Recruiting, Human Resources, Contracts, Accounting, and Security support teams on a regular basis.
  • Identifies and manages business growth opportunities in alignment with L&A capability areas and Sandia needs.
  • Interfaces with L&A and Sandia leaders on a regular basis.
  • Develops reports, presentations, and informative summaries to communicate status.
  • Implements effective records management practices so that information can be easily retrieved.
  • Develops, monitors, and reports on program metrics.
  • Reviews and approves invoices to ensure timely and accurate submittal to clients.
  • Assisting with general office management responsibilities
Education and Licensure

Bachelors degree in business management/administration, project management, or another relevant field. Additional experience can be considered in lieu of education.

  • Due to federal contract security requirements, candidates must be able to successfully pass a federal background investigation to secure and maintain DOE Q security clearance if required.

  • Must have demonstrated experience managing a business portfolio.
  • Contract Management experience is required.
  • Strong leadership and managerial skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Able to interface effectively with personnel at all levels, build trust, gain consensus, and resolve conflicts.
  • Strong independent contributor and able to work as part of a team.
  • Able to solve problems with minimal guidance or direction.
  • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Highly skilled in using Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, and Outlook.
  • Able to analyze data, understand disparities, and implement solutions to support improvement.
  • Basic understanding of recruitment, human resources, contracts, accounting, and security processes.

Preferred Qualifications and Location Details

  • PMP certification
  • DOE contracting experience.
  • Experience working with Los Alamos National Lab.
  • Position is flexible to either onsite support at our Los Alamos office or hybrid/remote support with travel to the area as needed.
