Full Job Description
All on the Field (AOTF) runs paid canvassing and ballot-access programs across multiple states. We are hiring a Deputy Field Director for our 2026 Mississippi canvass program across DeSoto County, North Mississippi, and the Delta.

This position sits between the Regional Field Directors and the State Field Director. The Deputy runs the program's day-to-day field management and owns delivery of training across the program, working primarily in the field alongside regional directors and team leads. The role requires significant weekly in-state travel between DeSoto County and the Delta, including overnight stays.

The primary focus of this role is developing field staff: training Regional Field Directors and team leads, mentoring them through the program, and supporting their performance as they take on turf of their own.

Responsibilities
  • Serve as second-in-command on the field program and step in for the State Field Director as needed
  • Deliver the program's training: onboarding for new field staff, ongoing skill-building for team leads and regional directors, and retraining where performance requires it
  • Mentor Regional Field Directors and team leads through ride-alongs, in-field coaching, and structured feedback
  • Run the day-to-day management rhythm across regions: morning launches, mid-shift checks, evening debriefs, including daily numbers
  • Capture and elevate qualitative canvasser feedback on voter sentiment, name recognition, message resonance
  • Travel across program turf on a regular weekly cadence and maintain consistent presence in each region
  • Identify underperforming regions and turf and work with Regional Field Directors to address them
  • Conduct in-field spot-checks and enforce data quality and field integrity standards
  • Verify canvasser hours and support the staffing plan alongside the State Field Director
  • Other duties as the program requires

Qualifications
  • 2+ cycles of field experience with a record of directly managing a field team; experience managing managers preferred
  • Direct experience training field staff, including building and running trainings
  • Experience working rural and small-town turf; Mississippi or Deep South experience strongly preferred
  • Able to travel across the state most weeks, including overnight stays
  • Proficient with VAN/Votebuilder, MiniVAN, and standard field tools
  • Effective with new staff and comfortable managing performance directly
  • Track record of meeting metric-driven goals on deadline
  • Valid driver's license and access to a vehicle

The Details
  • Salary: $7,000 to $7,500 per month
  • Health benefits
  • This position is based in DeSoto County, Mississippi. We will also consider candidates based in or willing to relocate to Greenville or Clarksdale, Mississippi. Candidate must be in, or willing to relocate to, the area.
  • Travel: Significant in-state travel across program turf, including overnights, is a regular requirement of this role.
  • Schedule: Full-time. Because you are directing a field team that works evenings and weekends, your hours will track the program and regularly fall outside a standard workday.
