Responsibilities

  • Break exclusive transaction news and maintain coverage of ongoing transactions.
  • Edit and refine colleague content to ensure quality and clarity.
  • Develop a network of private real estate professionals through interviews and industry events.
  • Oversee daily and weekly updates of the PERE Deals website and manage editorial agenda.

About The Role

We at PEI Group are looking for a Deputy Editor to join our welcoming, diverse, and growing team based in New York.

Purpose:

  • Support the Editor in leading PERE Deals' coverage of the global private real estate transactions market.
  • Have a constant handle on key news and events in the marketplace with a view to selecting coverage for all formats (website, database, podcast).
  • Be a key source of content ideas for PERE Deals, in close collaboration with the Editor.
  • Become an editorial authority on all matters regarding private real estate transactions regularly being able to demonstrate which transactions matter most and why.
  • Produce regular private real estate transaction news, insight and data stories.
  • Optimize content based on user engagement metrics to ensure relevance and value to PERE Deals target audience of private real estate transactions professionals and advisors.
  • Contribute to ensuring the PERE Deals website always has timely content.
  • Collaborate closely with the PEI's Research & Analytics team to help ensure the PERE Deals data offering is of the highest quality and consistently embedded in the editorial.
  • Where appropriate, collaborate with other Real Estate Group colleagues on affiliate editorial assignments.
  • Adhere to PERE Deals and PEI editorial codes of conduct and best practices at all times.
  • Maintain PEI's high editorial standards.

Responsibilities include:

  • Work closely with the PERE Deals Editor to determine the overall editorial direction and execution strategy for the title.
  • Break exclusive transaction news.
  • Maintain strong reporting on on-diary transaction news.
  • Edit colleague copy and other content when needed.
  • Develop network of private real estate investment executives and advisors.
  • Conduct regular interviews with relevant private real estate investment executives and advisors.
  • Ensure transaction level data features appropriately in the editorial content set.
  • Contribute actively to the PERE Deals transaction data collection and structured information creation process
  • Contribute to the editorial agenda for PERE Deals in collaboration with the PERE Deals Editor.
  • Ensure the PERE Deals website is consistently updated and oversee daily and weekly digest curation and publishing.
  • Determine, pitch, research and write off-diary analysis and insight features for PERE Deals and other Real Estate Group titles.
  • Attend and participate in non-PERE Deals associated industry events.


About You

Qualification & Experience

  • Minimum two years' experience in business journalism, preferably in institutional level real estate journalism
  • Editing experience is a bonus, ready to take on editing responsibilities a must
  • University educated and relevant journalism qualification
  • Fluent verbal and written English. Further fluent languages is a bonus
