Kind of Work Highly responsible administrative and professional engineering work assisting the Director of Public Works in the overall administration of the Department of Public Works; and related work as required.
Minimum Qualifications - A Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in the field of engineering.*
- Registration as a professional engineer and license to practice in Louisiana in the field of engineering.*
- Five (5) years of responsible professional engineering experience, exclusive of time as "Engineer-in-Training (EIT)", at least two (2) of which must have been in the field of engineering in an administrative and supervisory position preferably as applied to public works or in the field of traffic engineering and operations, design, and planning.
Note: A Deputy Director of Public Works special Work History Form must be completed and returned to the Civil Service Department no later than (2 weeks after the final filing date). *Prior to appointment, the hiring agency is required to verify education claimed by the applicant to qualify for this classification. If selected for hire, applicants must provide original documents of their qualifying credentials to the hiring agency prior to their start date in this job classification. Kind of Examination A qualifying review of license and experience to determine that the candidate meets the minimum qualifications, weighted 100%. Credit will only be given for experience gained within the last ten (10) years.
This is a non-competitive original entrance examination in accordance with Rule V, Section 8.1 (d) of the City Civil Service Rules.
