Full Job Description
The Mayor's Office of Media and Entertainment (MOME) seeks a dynamic and strategic leader to serve as the Deputy Commissioner of Access and Engagement, responsible for overseeing the agency's portfolio of programs that support New York City's creative workforce and industries. The Deputy Commissioner of Access and Engagement will also serve as a primary liaison between MOME and the creative workforce community. This includes engaging directly with workers, industry stakeholders, unions, training providers, and community-based organizations to understand evolving workforce needs. The Deputy Commissioner of Access and Engagement will translate these insights into actionable strategies, programs, and policy recommendations that strengthen career pathways and support long-term industry growth. This role will lead the Programs Team and provide high-level direction across a diverse set of initiatives, including workforce development programs, industry-facing promotional events, and grantmaking efforts. The Deputy Commissioner of Access and Engagement will ensure that all programs are aligned with MOME's strategic priorities, responsive to industry needs, and delivering measurable impact. A central responsibility of this role is to establish, evaluate, and compare key performance indicators (KPIs) across programs. The Deputy Commissioner of Access and Engagement will develop frameworks to assess program effectiveness, identify areas for improvement, and use data-driven insights to inform resource allocation and budget decisions. This individual will play a critical role in ensuring that MOME's investments are targeted, efficient, and equitable. The Deputy Commissioner will report directly to the Commissioner. Key responsibilities include: -Lead and manage the Programs Team, including setting priorities, overseeing performance, and supporting staff development -Oversee the design, implementation, and evaluation of workforce development programs, events, and grant initiatives -Develop and standardize KPIs across programs to enable cross-program comparison and strategic decision-making -Analyze program outcomes and producing recommendations to inform budget allocations and program improvements -Serve as MOME's primary point of contact for creative workforce stakeholders and maintaining strong relationships across the ecosystem -Identify gaps in workforce support and design innovative solutions to address industry needs -Collaborate with internal and external partners to advance MOME's workforce strategy -Develop proactive policies to support the creative workforce -Oversee special projects and initiatives as assigned.
