Tell me more......The City of Peoria is seeking a dynamic and forward-thinking leader in the incoming Deputy City Manager. The successful candidate will bring the energy, confidence, and emotional intelligence to lead meaningful organizational change, while building trust and credibility at all levels of the organization.
The ideal candidate will be driven to achieve results and motivated by opportunities to make the organization stronger. Rather than maintaining the status quo, this individual will bring a continuous improvement mindset, actively identifying opportunities to enhance efficiency, strengthen operations, and move key organizational initiatives forward. Of particular importance will be experience participating in or leading the centralization of corporate functions, and the ability to successfully guide Peoria through similar efforts.
Peoria is looking for a confident and capable executive who understands both their strengths and opportunities for continued growth. The successful candidate will be approachable, open to feedback, willing to listen, and comfortable giving others credit. They will lead with authenticity and demonstrate the self-awareness necessary to build strong, productive relationships.
This role requires a leader with a high level of emotional intelligence who understands how to work effectively with different personalities, perspectives, and leadership styles. The ideal candidate will be a strong communicator and relationship builder who can quickly establish credibility, navigate complex conversations, build consensus, and bring people together around shared organizational goals.
While previous government experience is welcomed, it is not essential. More important is a strong record of executive leadership and organizational transformation. The ideal candidate will be financially astute and comfortable evaluating the financial and operational impacts of executive-level decisions. An information technology background is also highly desirable.
Ultimately, Peoria is seeking a leader who can see the bigger picture while effectively moving initiatives from concept to implementation, someone who can thoughtfully challenge the status quo, collaboratively lead change, and inspire others to move the organization forward.
