Department Manager - Geotechnical Engineering - Orlando, Florida

The Geotechnical Engineering Department Manager is responsible for the overall management of a profit center including: planning growth, profitability, cost control, employee development, quality control and client relations within Geotechnical Department.

What you'll do:
  • Direct and execute one or all of the following geotechnical project assignments but not limited to field exploration, laboratory services, engineering analysis, report preparation and report technical review
  • Provide quality control review of proposals and reports and direct operations in a manner to consistently meet commitments to the clients
  • Actively participate in business development and marketing efforts while establishing and maintaining client relationships related to technical aspects of our client assignments
  • Responsible for the mentoring and training of junior professional staff professionals
  • Actively participate in relationship building with professional and technical organizations

Minimum Requirements & Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering from accredited engineering / ABET school required
  • 5+ years' of leadership, management, and/or engineering project management experience is required
  • Florida Professional Engineer (P.E.) Registration is required
  • Must be customer focused and quality driven
  • Effective communication skills (written, verbal, and listening) and solid interpersonal skills are required
  • The ability to read and understand work plans is required
  • Valid Driver's License and reliable driving record required

Preferred Requirements & Qualifications:
  • Master's Degree in Geotechnical Engineering is preferred
  • ICC, NICET and/or ACI Certifications are a plus
  • P&L, and basic accounting experience is preferred
  • Sales, marketing, and client management experience preferred
  • Prior personnel management, hiring and training experience preferred
